hey Sheffield forumers :)

well, 2months ago I took on a stray dog named JJ and she is now fully trained and fully vaccinated playful and happy. She is just missing one thing... another doggy to play fetch with.

I am looking for a dog of a similar size, (she is akita x gsd) and a playful dog who is house trained or part trained and vaccinated. im not fussed on price as that doesn't matter it would be lovely to have another dog for JJ to play with :)

if anyone knows of anywhere or anyone, please let me know.

thank you, take care.

Lauren.

I wont recomend 2 puppys (am i right in think JJ is a youngsta). It can make training very difficult.

I have 2 and its a nightmare trying to find them both time to get some one on one time and Ive noticed my second pup is very focused on my oldest (too focused, sometimes as the expence of listerning to me). If you get two youngsta they can become best friends (which is lovely in some ways) but can be double the trouble if they both decide to run off at the same time. And with a big dog you need to crack heel walking with one before you take on the second otherwise you'll have ape arms :)

Id look for an older well trained dog if you;ve got your heart set on getting a second now.

Having said that Ive got a adolscent and pup, which everyone said would be a nightmare and its worked out for the best so if your sure you've got the time to put into them then Im sure I wont put you off :)

Have a look on our site - and maybe go visit the dogs at Netherlands. We have a few videos of the dogs in.

If its playful you are after - ie to play with you - or playful as in ball games (ie flyball type of things), there are a couple. Get a pick up of JJ or take her out - look at the dogs in there, and then maybe take a couple for a walk that you think are suitable.

I know a few of the characters there, and Oscar, Jet, or Buddy spring to mind first - but u go and see

thanks for the replies guys :)
i agree too puppys will be an handful but me and my partener are willing to go through the trouble lol but after thinking, we are rethinking a puppy, maybe a 2year old may suit better.

And thanks rainrescue, im on your website now having a look :)

take care

I think it's lovely your looking for a playmate for JJ, and agree a young adult might be better than a pup.

Good luck and I hope you find the ideal dog soon.

He's a greyhound though sonic - not the sort that would prob be the best playmate for yours, as they aren't easy to let off the lead everywhere. Plus, i think he is best suited as an only dog, or with other hounds.

awwwwwh he's beautiful!!!! im liking the look of that humous though!! rain rescue, how much is it to adopt from you? thanks

Rainrescue

which is humous?

We ask for a donation of £100 for each dog, which tbh - doesn't even cover the cost of the castration - let alone the vacs /chip / board etc.,

Some dogs - those that aren't as rehomeable - come on a donation only - ie - we have paid for everything, and just want the dog in a good home, as long as the home can afford the on going costs of keeping a dog.

Money never stops me rehoming a dog, but it means we are here for the next one that needs us. Mine are only the ones in Rotherham 1 (excluding buddy and Molly)

Houmus really is a star. I walked him at the weekend and he honestly could not have been better behaved, he has been trained very well to this point and does sit, paw etc The only reason he is in rescue is that his owner moved into a flat apparently.

I am not sure how he is with other dogs so you'd need to check but really he is a total gentleman and very cuddly!
