View Full Version : Like snow - yes or no?
cosywolf 01-01-2004, 16:14 First snow of the year...
are you the kind of person who runs out and throws yourself into the nearest snowball fight with a big goofy grin on your face?
Or do you look out, mutter rude things under your breath, and hide under the nearest duvet until it's gone?
Mosherchik 01-01-2004, 16:25 I love snow......
until it turns to slush I slip on it and break my bum! :o
all the snow has vanished round our end now!
If it had been 5 inches thick then yeah...see me in my parka, wellies and mittens like Mosh of the Antartic!
*idea* Moshing in snow Hmmmmmmm
Ps beware the yellow stuff (orange closest o yellow that I could find :(
*Twinkle* 01-01-2004, 16:29 Yay love snow! I remember when I was a little 'un there used to be loads! Now theres hardly any for a snowball, nevermind a snowman!
SatanInHeels 01-01-2004, 16:30 im not all that bothered whether it is snowy or not!
but sayin that, there was about 4-5 inches on my road last nite, and i was making a snow man and havin snowball fights with one of the lads on my road at bout 2.30 this mornin!! (im not sad reali!)
cosywolf 01-01-2004, 16:31 I like it. I was first on our street to run out (in slippers and socks) and play.
I love the way it looks when you stand under a streetlight and look up into the sky and the flakes are coming down at you.
And I love the way it turns everything all white and clean, for an hour or two at least.
I also love the absurdity of how a city which has been subject to snow for hundreds of years reacts like it's the first time every year, and everything stops working.:loopy:
Cosy:P
I like snow. I think it brightens the whole place up and usually causes plenty of chaos.
I love snow :)
but i dont love being hit in the head by hard snowballs via NED's in clapped out novas :/
I love snow !
A few years back when I was doing my PhD there was an Argentinian and a Portuguese babe in my lab and when it snowed they ran outside and took photos in the nearby park - of course all the photos were just plain white but it made their day as they had never seen real snow where they came from.
So when you're moaning about snow think about those who may never see it in their lives...
Martin_s 01-01-2004, 17:35 This was the best New years ever thanks to the sudden snow we found waiting for us outside..
I was in Leeds where we got about 3 inches but lord it was just amazing... Wonderful stuff :)
Mr BusDriver 02-01-2004, 01:05 Ive just come back over the A57 Snake Pass, is it me or does everything look better in the snow.
We seldom get snow these days so it's always nice to see it. Perhaps it's just me but the snow doesn't seem to be of the same quality as when I was a child. It seems to break up when making a snowball and it's almost impossible to construct a decent worthwhile snowman.
cosywolf 02-01-2004, 12:02 I think it's a bit scary that in the relatively short time I've lived in Sheffield (12 years), the weather has changed pretty dramatically. The snow comes later (often March), and there is so much less of it than there used to be. We'd be lucky/unlucky(?) to see a proper snowfall that actually hangs around for a few days. Of course I realise that by saying that, I'm tempting fate (oops).
Climate change in action. It just seems an awfully short period for things to have changed quite so much

Do temp fate cosy! ... I would love more snow ... I totally love it!!
My dog used to love it too ... he used to catch snowballs and play and frolic in the snow bless him.
Yep like snow but loads of it, not the little crappy bit we get now that goes manky really quick.
I wasn't here when it did it this time but it did snow in Northumberland but did'nt settle.
Unfortunatly a mate that was here broke her leg badly by falling in the stuff we just had, warning how dodgy it is.
Haven't seen snow in about 12 years. I don't miss it one bit.
In Sheffield in literally brings everything to a standstill. Snow falls and buses stop, snow ploughs don't come out time, grit vans make a real mess. After it all starts to thaw out then you are left with a slushy, dirty, wet mess.
Thread Title
Like snow - yes or no?
Or, more simply: "Do you like snow?"
Why oh why are thread titles being forced into this ridiculous, standardised format, often when a correctly structured sentence does the job much better?
cosywolf 04-01-2004, 16:47 t020...sweetie...it wouldn't have rhymed then.
No-one forced or standardised anything. Okay? Feel better now?;)
Cosy:P
(ace enough at the English language to play around with it, thank you very much:P )

We'll wait for an apology, shall we?
cosywolf 04-01-2004, 17:02 ;) I'm not holding my breath, bless him.

I wasn't criticising cosy, just the mods who often change perfectly worded thread titles to ones in this ridiculous standard format that they seem to have taken a shine to. If cosy intended it that way though, thats fine. I just find it annoying when I create perfectly valid thread titles, only to have them modified into a format I CAN'T STAND.
cosywolf 04-01-2004, 17:29 Fairy snuffles, t020.:)
By the way, you didn't say...snow, or no snow?
Teehee, I'm a right little poet, me:D

I like snow yes. I like the feel of it when you walk over it and you can feel it crumpling underneath the soles of your shoes. I don't like it when it turns slushy though.
Classic Rock 05-01-2004, 13:39 We get so little snow it's fun to watch it falling and then go and fall in it myself. I've never yet had the chance to take the car out in it and 'off road'! It always melts!
i love snow but i hate the bit before the snow comes down, like recently it has been really cold and no snow, i wish that it would be cold and snow or not be cold at all!!! the cold is the worst thing!!
