I'm looking for a lead rein pony for my son (aged nearly 3) to ride once or twice a week. This would suit somebody who bought a pony for their own children and still has this valued member of their family, even though the children have outgrown it. We could give your pony light exercise once or twice a week. I have 25+ years experience of riding and looking after horses and ponies so your pony would be in good hands.

I am willing to make a contribution towards upkeep etc. Must be within short drive of Crookes area (e.g. Grenoside, Loxley, Stannington, Lodge Moor, Mayfield Valley, Ecclesall etc).

I've one at Hellaby S66, about 15 mins drive from Crookes up motorway. Spot on little mare, adores kids and attention, slightly off-white colour at the moment ;) Plenty of opportunity to ride, loads of off road hacking and if I ever get a towing vehicle then loads of showing opportunities too!

Do you mean Hellaby near Maltby? That is so tempting and she sounds lovely - but I think it may be a little far. I'll have to think about this...

yes, Hellaby near Maltby. It's only 7 minutes from junc 33 (I used to drive it every day for work :)) and I used to go through Woodhouse to get to Crookes so it's really not as far as you might think.

pm me if you want my number and to come and meet Smartie. :)

aww that's a really nice offer HenHugger. I'd love to get my kids riding, I haven't ridden since I was about 15 but i used to love it!

I bought Smartie 10 years ago to break and sell on but she was too good with kids so I showed her and thought I'd teach my kids to ride on her. I've not had kids but would never sell her so we just do fun stuff instead. She adores kids though, a real peoples pony! :)

I know Smartie. HenHugger bought her when we were on the same yard together (all those years ago!!) I'd recommend this pony to anyone with kids who are wanting to ride :D

No worries - I'm sure I would do the same :)

henhugger - this is such a lovely and generous offer - but it still feels like a long way to come with a 3 year old. I have been looking a bit more locally too so I'll see how that goes over the next week and let you know. If that doesn't work out and your offer still stands, maybe we could come and see Smartie after Easter - she sounds great and I would love to meet her. I'm not trying to mess you around - I just don't want to commit to something that we can't keep up. Thanks again.
