http://www.rainrescue.co.uk/dogs-for-adoption/sheffield-dogs-1/item/71-ref-4719.html

We went to sheffied dog pound today and at first no dog caught our eyes, there was a gorgeous terrier but too nippy and the other dogs looked like they wanted to eat my daughter to be honest lol and then we came across the cutest most handsome face ever.

Ref 4719 came to meet us and on entering the room came and sat at our feet, he tried to lay on my daughter which she found hilarious. He was perfect for us, absolutely stunning. We even thought of a name for him and agreed he looks like a Taylor.

:( Then i was told the council had stopped doing the placing a deposit down to reserve the dog for when we're able to pay :(

We're now racing around trying to find where we can get £76 so we can bring Taylor home, but its not looking good as our deadline is 12 tomorrow :(

if we dont get him i want to get the message out that he is a stunning dog, the most beautiful good natured little boy i've ever met, even next to my border collie, he found my 9 month old daughter amazing and he was so chilled out even when giddy. So if we cant get hold of him please dont leave him in the kennels, he really doesnt deserve it...

Well we're doing what we can but it doesnt look hopeful so we might have to just hope good old Ref 4719 (Taylor to us) finds a loving happy home and soon

I dont think we can LadyB as much as its nice of everyone we've only got enough on side for the dog food, food bowl, lead, collar, dog bed etc for when we actually find a dog to be rehomed. We were going to see how much of a deposit we'd have to put down and get it off the in-laws but my mum - in - law is in a really bad state at the moment and theres no point in even asking my father - in - law.

I just really want him to get out there its the reason i brought him up in a topic so that people can see he's great with kids and such a sweetheart.

I was told a rescue was waiting for him by a member of the dog pound :O

Rainrescue

Yes he was but he missed that place because you had put a reserve on him.

Did you phone them to say you didn't want him and take the reserve off?

I know that he's still there and they are DESPERATELY full.

If people could put posters up to try and move some of them into homes - as dogs get dumped every day and the council has to keep taking them in.

PLEASE pm haddockman if you can put some posters up in nice places.

Rainrescue

Oh right, sorry about saying it was your reserve then, I just know he had a reserve on him and thought it was yours.

Maybe it was someone else who put one on him and didn't go back?

We put a block on our phone because the cost of phoning mobiles anyone on BT knows it costs an absolute fortune to phone a mobile and tthe only number i had got was a mobile. Someone on sheffield forum who works at the dog pound and who was there the day we went spoke to me and i told her that if a rescue was waiting for him then to let him go as we couldnt promse we'd be there friday...i think i've saved a copy if you want me to find it out for you.

I felt bad as it was leavin that dog in there namz!!! I honestly thought i had the money to get the dog but i didnt and for that im sorry but i DID let a member of the dog pound to let him go to the rescue!!!

He was a beautiful dog and honestly i'd still have him if i could afford it! I feel crap now cause i was under the impression the reserve would be taken off him! I just wish i'd rang the normal council number and asked them to contact sheffield dog pound (athough i dont think they would have).

I PM'd you friday to tell YOU to let the pound know if you wanted him or not. I told YOU to phone them. You said you still werent sure about the dog you were seeing the day after. I wasn't in work on Friday so couldnt take the reserve off till I went in Saturday morning when i realised you hadnt let them know yourself. I said the dog could have gone to rescue a couple of days before and he may still be able to go but as I dont deal with the rescue didnt realise he had already lost his place. If in your PM back you had asked ME to let them know you didnt want him I would have done that but you didnt.
This is why we dont take reserves on dogs for days because they end up still stuck in the pound when people change their minds.
Anyone looking for a lovely dog, hes still at the pound.

I think maybe that this thread has now run its course and we should call it a day.
