Just been trying to update some stuff on Access 2003 to discover that Microsoft have brought out Service Pack 3. Does anyone know about this and whether I should wait before installing it?

Thanks, its not relevant for this PC which has got XP installed.

Good job it's not yet another Service Pack for XP, SP2 has already broke more of my software than it has fixed :rant:

There'll be another one.

In an attempt to fix the problems introduced by SP2. However, SP3'll cause "other" issues:D (IMHO) as SW authors are already working on/using "work-arounds" for short-comings/faults in XP since SP2 was let loose.

I have XP, and when I went to Windows Update the other day, I was asked to download new software, which turned "Windows Update" into "Microsoft Update", which now looks for updates for everything on my pc, including Office 2003 and Windows Family, as well as the original Windows Update. I'm still waiting to see whether it's a good or a bad thing.

I always ask for Custom Update so that I can choose whether or not to install any particular update.

I think Microsoft released Service Pack 3 for Office XP (also known as Office 2002).

If you are running Access 2003, you will need the Service Pack for Office 2003, which is currently on Service Pack 1.

Xp Service Pack 3 is currently in alpha build - be out late this year i'd guess


Actually probably next year - I remember SP2 BETA was months before it was generally released

yep just had to download service pack 3, and also install a genuine verification software that checked my software was leigt before allowing me into "update".
