I met a guy last night from Stoke who is the Phil Oakey in a Human League tribute band. By all accounts they are pretty good. I am told that they are the only Human League tribute band that don't do other eighties covers in their set and just do only Human League stuff.
Anyhoo, I shall cut to the chase here. They have done a few gigs in and around Stoke but would love to play in Sheffield. Does anyone have any ideas about where would be a good starting place and whether you would be interested in going to see them.
Here is their website:

I do nowadays more than I did when I was a teenager n they were 'in'.
It's like nostalgia kind of thing I guess.
The little dark haired lass was cute - wonder if she went back to waitressing in a cocktail bar?

The singer looks more like Gary Numan than Phil Oakey. yeah...I would go to see them. What about that Boardwalk place...the room below that is. They hold gigs. I went to see The Pretenders there not so long ago actually. It is only small but maybe it would be the right size for this tribute band.

i was gonna say the boardwalk too
Heh, only my fave band ever (original one, not tribute). I might go and see the covers act if they played the Boardwalk. It's about the right size for a band like that. By Jovi (can you guess, etc?) play there a lot.
seen the league, so will be mor ethan happy to attend a tribute band in sheff.
I preferred the stuff they did on the first two albums. Give me Zero As A Limit over That Cocktail Bar Song any day. That's not to say the later stuff was crap - there were some good tracks amongst the later albums.

boardwalk is the main tribute band stop in sheffield.
im guessin that it would be more popular in sheffield so might be worth them booking it up and letting people know they are playing.
not my type of music..but i cud see it doing as well as the other tributes that are around (as long as they are any good of course)
