View Full Version : It's Me...I am moaning again - You with the SEAT IBIZA
OK!!!! I am here again. Moaning AGAIN. About numpties who can't park their cars respectfully. As some of you know, I go mad because of the amount of dints I get when idiots park at the side of me...what do you think to this???
I went to Graves Park today, with my other half and daughter. I park right at the end of the middle row. Plenty of room from the last car at the side of me, no room for anymore as it is the road. I am getting my daughter out of the passenger door (3 door car, have to lift her out of the carseat on the back seat) and there is a car waiting to reverse, gold Seat Ibizi, reg Y*04 L*V, (not allowed to give full reg and don't want to get into trouble). The car waited for me to finish getting my daughter out, then reversed at such an angle and so close there was about 2ft if that, from the driver's door to the passenger door. This was just after the stupid bint had watched me get my daughter out of the car??????? WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE AND WHY CAN'T YOU LEARN TO PARK PROPERLY, STRAIGHT AND RESPECTFULLY?????? I was fuming and got back in my car and went to find another space where I wasn't in any danger of another stupid driver doing the same thing. Do you know what the best thing is???? This women actually had kids of her own in the back (oh, her partner was there aswell and he didn't know anybetter otherwise he wouldn't have let her drive LET ALONE park a new car in that way). How on earth she ever expected me to get back in the car and get my daughter in the car I have NO idea. If it wasn't for my other half being there, I would have said something to her, but he doesn't like me going mad when he is there!
I am getting really fed up of this now. I think I am going to start my own vendetta against idiot parkers in Sheffield, I am thinking along the lines of getting stickers printed with messages on them relating to the level of parking to show them up. HELP ME! This is really starting to get to me.
On leaving the carpark, I felt extremely sorry for the brand new 05 white VW convertible who had obviously parked very safely, leaving loads of room, but then another idiot had got into that space with about 1ft either side AND got her kids out!
And by the way, it wasn't that there were no spaces, there were, it's just people were too lazy to walk from one end of the car park to the other.
Rant over...but I still feel like putting all these idiots in a room and giving them a good talking to.
Bad parking drives me up the wall too!
Draggletail 20-08-2005, 20:47 Might make you feel better if you carry a box of out of date chucky eggs in the car. Make a nice eggy mess all over the offending vehicles front windscreen :D
For top whack vengeance, a rag stuffed up the exhaust should guarantee a visit from the AA, RAC etc. Wrapped in the rag, there should be a suitably written note.
(this method of revenge only recommended in moments of sheer 'red mist' though ;) )
UnkleBob 20-08-2005, 20:53 phew, thought she meant me. I have a Seat Beezer, but always park with consideration. And i haven't been to the park and i'm not a woman and i don't drive an 04 plate. Think i'm cleared eh?;)

Nobody would blame you Sav, especially if you've got mini Sav in the car with you at the time.

Yes Unklebob - that certainly ruled you out - I would have no way expected you to park in such a manner anyway!!! You should have seen it though!

You are encouraging me! Believe it or not, this was seriously a moment of red mist! Would the egg episode not consitute criminal damage though because I think that is a great idea and could enjoy doing that!!! That could be a trademark! Messy eggy cars indicate the idiotic inconsiderate parkers!
DragonofAna 20-08-2005, 21:40 As long as the person is in a parking slot then there is not a problem. Some of you are so hypocritical. Been posts on here about me not being able to park outside my home due to idiots wanting to go buy a pair of jeans from the nearby shops or to jump on the tram and all I get is - Well, they are allowed to pay and you don't own the road outside your house. Great - lets have a clear division of what is acceptable or not.
Tell you what - hate me all you want but I shall park in a parking space leaving enough room for me to get out of my side of the car. Yawn to the rest. As long as I am parked straight and my cehicle is completely inside the parking markings then what can anyone compain about.
There is a car on the road that has doors that slide back to avoid this probem. It is only a two door vehicle and getting into the back seat is a nightmare but there will always be something to moan about.
I have known drivers to park so close I have had to get into the drivers seat through the passenger door. I got in my car and drove away. Sorted.

The egg would have stained any paintwork once dried so i'd guess criminal damage would be a possibility.
I like the exhaust idea though :heyhey:

Dragon, you sound sorted with your parking. It's the idiots that DON'T park straight or within any lines. Fine you leave yourself enough room - but a size 20 women with a foot's space between her door and the next car isn't enough room to get her buttocks out believe me.
I am sorry you have people parking in front of your house. I have that too and politely go and ask them to shift. (I have a driveway too!) One of our neighbours who constantly has this problem says next time this happens, he is going to park his two cars so close in front and at the rear of the blocking car that the car can't move!
I don't see myself as being hypocritical. I work hard for my money and treasure my possessions, particularly a car which I value greatly and I think other people should take more care...AND DON'T DINT DOORS!!!
DragonofAna 20-08-2005, 21:53 Aye - maybe someone needs to have words with whoever measures the size of parking spaces. My car is not small. Morrisons and Hillsborough park car park - what size car do they use for measuring?
Lets squeeze as many cars as possible into as small a space as possible mentality?
And the person complaining does not mention what is blocking the door at the other side of their car? Liose - did you park with the passenger side against a wall - or was it so close to the car at the other side the driver would not be able to get into his or her vehicle? I am not familiar with the place you parked so - just wondering.
Dragon
Dodgy area, this. Actually touching the other person's vehicle could be construed as criminal damage.
The bad parkers that get me in a lather are the ones who park slap bang in the middle of a gap big enough for two cars to park in thus using up two spaces. It's usually small cars who are the culprits as well.
DragonofAna 20-08-2005, 22:00 I agree with you 100% there Cayenne. There is a small carpark behind the shop I have - enough space for maybe 20 cars ... yeah right!
20 cars if people parked with any common sense. But usually you can fit about half that number in on account of double space takers but also those people who do not understand what the markings are for and park dioagonally.
Going to drop myself right in it here but the worse ones just happen to be females who are going to get their hair done at the nearby hairdressers. (Ducks and runs)

I can't stand this either.
Although most of the culprits I see are large saloons or 4x4s :|
With women drivers

This is the irony of the situation. I parked at the end of the row. Driver door reasonable width away from car on right. This seat ibiza stupid woman driver came to park on the left (in the road of the car park) which is why she wanted to park so close to my passenger door - because she knew she should NOT have been there in the first place and wanted to park so close so other cars could carry on driving round. The beauty about graves park is, there are no parking markings. Most people are reasonable and don't abuse this. Others just think they can park anywhere, even in the access road around the carpark.
DragonofAna 20-08-2005, 22:07 Abdul - you and me are going to get in serious trouble over these women driver comments - ebecause even if accurate we will be accused of male chauvenism.
So - men are bad at parking as well. I detest parallel parking. Scares the hell out of me, especially when there is a vehicle parked opposite the place I am paralleling.

I am treating your sexist comments about women driver's with the contempt they deserve...and ignoring them! I think it is quite equal here amongst poor men and women drivers.
DragonofAna 20-08-2005, 22:11 Liose - I just said that men are as bad as women drivers. Did you just chose to ignore that also as being somehow sexist?
But the people who park crap near my shop just happen to be female drivers. I know cos I have watched them.

Don't worry Dragon. According to some of the forums' conspiracy nuts, the mods are on my payroll.
So just agree with everything I say, and all will be well
DragonofAna 20-08-2005, 22:18 Its okay - people upset me I just hex them ;) I am a magus after all. LOL
Seriously though - I was not inferring the mods may get involved. I was sort of hinting at the female drivers on the site.

Yep, I'm pleased I didn't have to do that on my driving test!
However, the only advice I can give is (a) keep practising or (b) buy a smaller car :D
It's a shame you allow yourself to get so wound up by quite little incidents, but I guess it's usually the little things that trigger other frustrations.
We can't make other people be considerate if they are not, what we can do is lead by example. Had you felt calm and in control, you could have approached the driver of the other car and asked them to park a little further away from your car, after all, she had just seen you getting out with your child.
But you chose to move your car and park elsewhere. I've done the same thing in the past if someone has pulled up far too close. It's frustrating (mildly) but it's your choice.
I choose not to park near other cars if I can avoid it - I don't want any DENTS in my car and I don't want to dent anyone elses car.
"Do you ever get lonely in your perfect world?"
Is what I say to hubby when he goes off on one about the short comings of other people.
Bloomdido 20-08-2005, 23:59 I have a large saloon and a 4x4 and it's nearly impossible for me to get them parked outside my terrace. I have to park the 4x4 up on the verge as the high kerb deters most cars and I sometimes have to park the Jag round the corner and walk 20 yards!
Good job I'm not female or I just wouldn't be able to cope.

I was actually thinking about on street parking where someone leaves a 10' gap back and front of their car. But you're right, it's car parks as well.
Cars seem to have got a lot wider over the last 30 years - I wonder if lines are painted still to some dimensions from those days or are parking bays laid out with reference to the actual size cars are these days?
Cayenne
Ahhh. Nothing like coming out of a store or work, having left your car (you thought) with plenty of room to get your kids/packages in and out easily...and finding some $#@&*# idiot has left you no room to even open the door. Without using a can opener or a blowtorch.
Honestly, I think some people just don't know how to drive or park properly. Before my daughter got her license, her father and I insisted that she learn to parallel park. My father had insisted that all of us learn to park properly, and spent hours teaching us. At the time, it seemed pointless, but it has sure come in handy over the years.
I want one of those cars that folds up into a briefcase, like George Jetson has.

:) Sierra
DragonofAna 21-08-2005, 08:38 But it does not matter if you do a perfect parallel park, Sierra. The point is that you will come out of your home to drive away and find some kind person has moved their car and left you enough room to slide your car out sideways - but no other way.
Consideration with road users seems to be at an all time low.
Thing is - where are these people who are afraid to admit they are responsible for bad parking? They hide and keep very quiet. Hence my admission previously about the fact I am sometimes inconsiderate in that way.
By admitting a problem and seeing the effect my attitude has on those around me - I can set about changing it and hopefully do my little bit to make things better.
Wish I was a perfect driver like some of you lot, but I'm not.

Michelvis 21-08-2005, 08:50 If I were you, I would get a bicycle.
DragonofAna 21-08-2005, 10:15 Good job you aren't me then Michelvis. And good job for me that you are not me.
When you find a perfect car driver let me know. Until then I will just continue to accept we all have faults.
And cyclists are just as bad so nurrrrr.
