Try pubs!

Lloyds #1 on Division Street do a wonderful Bacon and Cheeseburger.

and the Devonshire Cat (Wellington Street) do a wonderful selection of handmade burgers.

Fairly pricey though, both weigh in at around £5/6.

Not every day but if you attend either of the football grounds in this city have a look for the burger unit with a white van run by Peter and Carole, I think the name on the side is Peter's Pantry.
They do a very nice cheeseburger and it must be nice because a lot of the stewards and police officeers buy from there. Don't be put off by the police horse that likes to go there for his kit-kat fix.

I would have said the Blue Cheese & Mushroom Buckle-buster at Fatty Arbuckles. But now they have closed it down.

Never tried Uncle Sams so i think that may be next!

I'm with RPG here- the Dev Cat's Bacon and Brie burger is just divine!

Besides there, other good burgers are TGI Fridays at Meadowhall (well, next to M'hall) and Popeye's on West St do a pretty good doner burger at 3a.m... that's my only recommendations- I have enjoyed many a sub-standard burger

I think the roll it's on has a lot to say for a burger, i don't care for the big crusty seedy ones you usually get, but in the US we have potato rolls, maybe you get them in the UK, they come in hot dog rolls too, last for ever in the fridge, but on'y sold in the supermarkets, so i make my own burgers.
