I have just got an i pod toch & can't get it to connect to the internet. I have registered it wit I tunes & have put music on there but if I press safari it brings up a list with, Yahoo, Google etc but I can't go into any of them - nothing happens from here.

I am a bit of a technophobe. Is there something I should be doing that I have missed? It will connect to I tunes & the app store & I presume that it is using the internet connection to do this?

Can anyone help?

When you say it brings up a list with Yahoo and Google, are you going on the mail tab?

That's the only way I can get mine to do that.

This is the list of bookmarks, just touch 'Cancel' @ the top right, and it will bring up a blank Safari page, touch in the address bar and type an address..

But have you got a wireless router, i'm assuming as it connects ok to the app store that this isn't the issue...

Or is the OP connecting to iTunes app store via the iTunes programme on the PC rather than direct on the iPod?

I had to set my kids iPods for the wifi connection at home both within the iPod itself (under General settings I think, but not sure as I don't have sight of one at the moment) selecting SSID, security type and enter entering passphrase, and also on the wifi router (adding mac address to the router's filter list).

I don't really understand that but will try & get someone to have a look at it who does. It isn't connecting to anything - I thougt it was but it isn't.

I have a router & am sure when I got the laptop it just connected to it automatically. The Wii did that & my son's PS3 - am sure I dind't have to do anything.

I naively thought I just turned it on & it would connect automatically. Will have to get my computer technician (ie little sis) to read your replies & have a look - thanks

My son has been known to have his iPod Touch on as we drive along London Road, and it picks up lots of wifi connections without him needing to do anything.

It sounds like you have no protection on your router, which is a whole other issue which can be the subject of another thread, so I suspect you just need to enable (turn on) the wifi capability of your iPod.

Settings, Wi-Fi, and make sure top setting (Wi-Fi) is 'On'.
Ask to Join Networks On or Off as you want (Off to 'just do it' I believe).
