Just bought a mk3 escort xr3i

Does anyone have any spares or advice on the following:

* I need a set of rear spats for the lower rear wheel arches
* I need a retro-stereo
* The alloys need a refurbish - where's the best place to take them and what will they cost
* What are 3i's worth these day's - mines solid with 10 months MOT, 6 months tax in VGC with 92k miles but no history in red
* Where's the best place to get spares for Mk 3 Escort's

Thanks for the advice John - would you recommend paint stripper, repainting and then a laquer or removing the tyres, shot blasting and paint/baking?
The alloys just look dull to me and are not badly kerbed

when i did a set other week i didn't bother removing the tyres but if you wanted to you could. if you just let the tyres down and break the seal you will get the same finish visually. i used sand paper on the kerb marks and used fine sand paper to get a smooth finish. then 3 coats of rattle can primer from halfords and 3 coats of matte black from halfords then lacquer. it cost me about £20 and they came out good for my first attempt. id say tho make sure you take your time with the prep work and spraying. if you need any help with them let me know i wouldnt mind having a looksy at your 3i ive got a soft spot for them

Is it sat on Cloverleaf alloys?...Personally i would ditch them for a set of RS Turbo Doglegs - alternatively there's these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/mk3-escort-xr3-xr3i-alloy-wheels-and-tyres_W0QQitemZ130373512189QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_C arsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item1e5addebfd

Then i would replace the engine and gearbox with that from a Series 2 RS Turbo

There are tons of parts on ebay

Is the battery tray still in one piece :hihi:

Thats like replacing linford christies heart with that of jonny vegas.

The 3i engine was miles better if looked after.

How so?....Both were 1.6 CVH engines. XR3i put out about 103bhp while the stock RS Turbo was 130, plus with a bit of tinkering you could easily see 150+ with no impact on reliability.
