I discovered that six tiny kittens and an older kitten had been abandoned in a wheelbarrow. On consultation with the Cats Protection League it became evident that these kittens would not survive the night, certainly not in the area where they were left.
Anyway to cut a long story short I went and rescued these kittens. They are stunning, six little ginger and white ones.
The other problem is that I have also just received another cat, who has been very badly treated. I took her to the vet and she has been treated. She is a Persian cat and will be stunning when she is well and loved.
If anyone can help by adopting the badly treated cat or one of the older kittens that would be really good.
Have you thought about opening a cat home????

I have thought that my house is turning into a cats home without me having anything to do with it... :-)
I would appreciate some help, I couldnt leave the cats to die. I couldnt have lived with myself if that had happened.
Bless you Rachel - you're so good!
I'm afraid we can't - it would be lovely but we've got two already (one of which hates cats  ) and a puppy in a week!
Good luck with them though - and well done you!
Lottie
Awww good on you :)
I am so tempted to offer to take one but we already have 2 persians and a baby on the way so it just wouldn't be fair. I really hope you find good homes for them.
Olliekitten, you are a saint
I despair of the treatment cats receive. When is anybody going to address this problem with the ghusto applied to dogs 30 years ago. This abandonment really has to stop :( :shakes:
South Yorkshire Animal Rescue is based not far from you and are always willing to help with care and rehoming of abandoned cats and kittens. It is extremely important to take care where they are actually rehomed as it is easy to obtain a pet on impulse, most of the charity shelters do things like vaccinations, spaying, micro chipping etc as well has home checks.
SYAR con be contacted on 0114 234 9656 ( 11am - 5pm)
Hope this is helpful
Olliekitten, have you tried the Sheffield Cat Shelter? I think Max has a link to it under his signature?
We adopted our cat from there about 8 years ago, when she was about 2 years old.
If it was just down to me, i'd take one. We have a 1year old dog and he's used to cats so he wouldn't be a problem I don't think. Not sure how our cat would react, but I suppose I could work on that. It's hubby that will put his foot down and say no. Although he's all for us getting another dog....

Thank you all very much for your comments. Mummy cat and kittens are now in the wonderful care of the Thornberry Animal Sanctuary. The beautiful kittens and their mum will be ready to be rehomed in seven weeks.
The beautiful Persian (whom we have named Lady Clara as she is so posh :)) we are going to keep for the while until she is in better health, then we will be finding her a suitably wonderful home. She has not stopped eating since we took her in, so it won't take long to get her back to full health!
