Does anyone know of any (reputable?) body piercers in the centre of town. I know there used to be one in the Forum, but I think they closed a while back.

If you're willing to go a little bit outside the centre of Sheffield, I can't recommend Jane at Feline Tattoo enough (on Hickmott Road, just off Ecclesall Road). She's fantastic, friendly and highly skilled with a spotless studio.

If you really wanted somewhere in the centre there is always Primal Piercing on West Street. I've had my septum done there and was very happy with it, but have since been put off. They told me they wouldn't do genital piercings on females because "it's dangerous". Anyone who knows anything about the industry can tell you that's complete twaddle, and all it suggested to me was that they didn't have the necessary skills or training.

As for that place in the Forum - if they have shut down, good! I'm the proud owner of an unintentionally off-centre labret thanks to them!

I can't think of one in the centre of town but if you want to get the tram out to Hillsborough there's a good one on the corner of Wadsley Lane and Middlewood Road, opposite Hillsborough Park and it's on the tram route.

It's called Van Schaicks Tattoo & Piercing Cafe (and it IS just like a little cafe downstairs) and I'd go back there if I was going to have anything else done. Nice people. :)

You might like to try this thread:

A couple of places are mentioned there.

I'll 3rd that! Very professional studio - as hygenic as your dentists. and the tattooists there have won lots of awards.

A lot of people I've spoken to have had piercings in studios which have since shut down. Very reassuring! ;)

Yes, but the majority of them dont shut down beacuse theyre bad at what they do, they close because any tom, dick or harry can now open a shop and call themselves a body piercer, even when theyve no experience or training in the art. They then start charging less than the decent places do, take all their trade (if you werent clued up about sterile practice, hygiene and proper technique, and had the choice of 2 places, most people would pick the cheaper one), and they end up having to close. Then you get loads of people with badly done, poorly placed piercings, using innapropriate jewellry, complaining about it on TV and trying to get the practice banned.

Needed to get that off my chest.

I really doubt Primal said dangerous, possibly a danger of losing sensation in the clitoris but not dangerous. I've known Maz for 10 years and she's been a peircer for a least that long, no shortage on experience there.

Rich i would recommend 'Van Shaiks' its across the road from The Park Hotel pub which is in Hillsborough, you can get the tram straight to it, stop off at Leppings Lane, this tattoo/peircing shop is brilliant, the staff are really friendly and are a real laugh! i would really recommend you go here for any of your tattoos/peircings.....

I can confirm they said they wouldnt do it because, and I quote, "Its too dangerous". I was sitting next to my wife at the time when she phoned them. And she buggered my septum up, its not quite straight.
