View Full Version : Police Helicopter - Anyone know where it's gone?
LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 10:28 I have just seen the police helicopter flying away from
Meadowhall in a North-North Easterly heading at an altitude of about 400 feet. It's velocity was about 85-100 mph but I can't confirm that. The wind is South to South Westerly and is blowing calm at about 4-8knots.
The forecast is Calm to Promising.
Anyone know where it's going and what's happening? :-)
i dont know but i bet the manor is missin it:P
Not too sure on this one. My sources tell me it may be on the look out for a crazy guy spotted near a street in Shiregreen but nothing confirmed. I guess its precise desination may be subject to freak lightning storms or a very strange 'thumping' noise that was heard in the vecinity of Hillsborough. Will keep you posted Ledzep!!!
RazorSHarp 19-08-2005, 10:35 I think someones takin the p*** :loopy:
LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 10:48 For those who don't know what to look for it's
blue with a yellow tail!
It has flashing lights on it too.
It's been gone a while - must be serious.
Wasn't there a big explosion in Walkley or summat...
LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 11:03 Yeah I heard about the big bang.
Nobody knows what it was.
Hope it wasn't the helicopter.
You having a mischievous moment again? lol
bensonhedges 19-08-2005, 11:15 Apparantly it's after a red subaru.....

LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 12:42 The last sighting was at 11:28am - Hope they're alright.
Anyone know if the pilots take a packed lunch with them as
it's getting on now and they've been a while.

Are you my mum ?
Colorado 19-08-2005, 12:52 there is one going across towm now but I don't know if it's the proper one as it has got a more pointy front....
Perhaps he's just realised he ain't got his sarni's with him:hihi:
I was led to believe that refreshments are the job of the co-pilot, he has to feed the sandwiches to the pilot who will probably have his hands full.
It has been known for the helicopter to hovver above McDonalds and lower a bucket to be filled at the drive through window.

They'll be waiting for the queue to die down at The Halifax!
LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 12:57 Suppose they could hang summat down but the McDonalds scenario is a bit far fetched.
They're much more likely to have a little stove or something in the back for brews and a pot noodle.
That's more believable. :-)
These are the perks of being able to hover you see.
13:57pm and still no sign of the chopper.
:o I think I hear it hang on.....
..... nope, someone strimming their grass  :D
Colorado 19-08-2005, 13:02 Was that the wrong one crossing town then? I assume Led that you are near the landing pad, if it was the right one they have obviously called at the chippy on their way back if they are not there yet....
Do you think they'd bring me a bag of chips if I asked nicely?
cgksheff 19-08-2005, 13:35 Just in case anyone is getting withdrawal symptoms! (http://www.southyorks.police.uk/departments/oss/helicopter/) :hihi:
LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 13:39 Do you think they know their missing?
I'll leave it till 4pm and then I might start getting worried.
Perhaps someone's moved the landing pad and they can't find it?

I am just relieved that it wasn't wrapped up in a Netto carrier bag :D

........... a Netto carrier bag ....
I thought that all that yellow on the top was a load of the plastic lovelies stuck together to stop the rain getting in!!!:D
Colorado 19-08-2005, 13:57 I'm worried now as I don't think that's the one that I saw, although I feel sure that the top was yellow- mind you I don't recall seeing any Netto bags on it either.... ooh dear where are they??
LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 13:58 What if they've been copternapped?
They could've been attending something in Rovrum
and they've claimed it?
Perhaps that's just silly but could happen.

LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 15:04 How much would a new one cost in case this

No problem. You get them free when you shop at Netto!
Base Price $3.1 million. Then start adding for cameras etc.
We paid £4 million for the current one.
Colorado 19-08-2005, 15:16 Now before we all start getting hysterical as it has gone past 4pm, do we know for certain that it isn't back yet???? Have we someone near it's home watching out for it???
LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 15:23 I'm about 2 miles from it's HQ and no sign of it.
It's Friday night soon though and the chances of seeing it tonight will be pretty good. If they are not back soon though they may miss their tea. Hope the stove is still working.
Perhaps the Walkley bang did get it?
Colorado 19-08-2005, 15:30 Hope they had a big brekky...
Does a helicopter carry enough fuel for a full day trip? because if it does they might have skived off to Skeg Vegas for the day!
LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 16:04 They're gonna struggle if they need to fill up!
I think they'll be ok.
Someone tonight will see them and all will be well.
Let's hope so :-)
its flying over my house as i post this.
LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 16:09 Really? Everything look ok?
Does it have all it's roters?
got all its "rotters" in tact.
could have been to MacArthur Glen 'cos it looked at bit overladen with shopping.

There is a McDonald's in Germany that has its own radio frequency. American military helicopters can call ahead and order heir Big Macs. The building has been built especially low so that helicopters can land right next to it and collect their burgers without shutting the engines down.
