Westlife's Mark: 'I'm gay and proud'

Westlife singer Mark Feehily has revealed he is gay.

The Irish-born singer said the time was right to let people know the truth.

He said: "I am gay and I'm very proud of who I am. I'm not asking for any sympathy or to be a role model to anyone else."

He added he was not worried about how people will react because he was happy being himself.

"My close friends and family, the people I love, have been incredibly supportive to me and that's what really matters."

Feehily, 25, from Sligo, north west Ireland, is currently in a long-term relationship with singer Kevin McDaid, 21, who was in a boyband called V.

Feehily said all the band members have been very supportive.

He was for a long time, the only one out of the band who was 'single and on the pull' -- strange that he didnt come out earlier I thought.

I think they are worried for they're fans... which i do understand... but as i said above nothing changed for Stephen Gately when he came out so why would it for Mark...

I feel by coming out and being themselves they tend to gain more respect... Shame it took him so long...

No wonder they always sat on stools when they sung their well crafted, beautiful, memorable tunes. They wore nice jumpers once, too didn't they. We should have known then, shouldn't we?

NB - It's true that Westlife sold records by the bucket-load. Trouble is, you had to throw the vomit out first in order to get to the CD.

Why, I believe he even has his close friend Jonathon Wilkes' initials tattooed on him as a testament to his laddish matey-ness... and surely his well-documented relationships with several media lovelies proves that he's as straight as the next man?

I had a feeling he was gay.and now i own my mate £50.we bet years ago that i said he not gay and she says he is.I had ad an inkling he could be as never see him with a girl.Im coming back in my next life as a gay bloke, too many of you good looking gay men,carnt cope with being a bi female now.
