View Full Version : Has anyone heard a bang in walkley jules99 18-08-2005, 22:55 just heard a loud bang, im in the walkley area, anyone else here it, can now here police sirens, any gossip anyone? danum 18-08-2005, 23:02 No haven't heard a thing we are near the freedom pub and all is quiet. jules99 18-08-2005, 23:05 have u heard the helicoptor about 5 mins ago. jules danum 18-08-2005, 23:06 Yeah I did but it wasn't directly over us and we have the telly on....You've got me all intrigued now! marshy 18-08-2005, 23:08 i live in chapeltown and even i'm intrigued!!?? LedZeppelin 18-08-2005, 23:12 Never known people with such boring lives that they have to mention bumps in the night and police helicopters flying over. People on this forum should chip in and have a day out to see the helicopter. It seems you all like looking at it. Perhaps you could all ride in it one day and take a picnic and make a day out at the airport. Another couple of favourites " Just heard police sirens - Wonder what's happened?" "Suspicious man just walked down our street" Oh please... danum 18-08-2005, 23:22 Originally posted by LedZeppelin Never known people with such boring lives that they have to mention bumps in the night and police helicopters flying over. Or is your life so tedious that you don't have anything better to do than posting neg'd out comments? marshy 18-08-2005, 23:22 mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!? thought we weren't into dissin on this site !?could make a comment but won't bother babe?1 LedZeppelin 18-08-2005, 23:23 Sorry people. It was not to be taken in a bad way. Some posts just make me smile. jules99 18-08-2005, 23:28 Originally posted by LedZeppelin Never known people with such boring lives that they have to mention bumps in the night and police helicopters flying over. LedZeppelin 18-08-2005, 23:38 Take it easy - I've not insulted anyone at all and won't do so. It was a generalisation of some of the posts on the website as a whole and not just this one. It is totally tonge in cheek and no offence is intended. It just amuses me when blue flashing lights, big bangs or the police helicopter flies over it ends up on here that's all. We live in a big town so the chances of it happening are almost nightly. That's why I actually like watching how many people write about it. Sorry again. Please proceed without me. I'm going to bed. Pipine 18-08-2005, 23:40 to be fair.. saying "Never known people with such boring lives that they have to mention bumps in the night and police helicopters flying over." is going to be kind of offensive to most people.. as is the stuff you posted on the lightning thread.. danum 18-08-2005, 23:43 Originally posted by LedZeppelin Take it easy - I've not insulted anyone at all and won't do so. "Suspicious man just walked down our street" Oh please... We all chip in on here to make sheffield and the world a better place, from people reporting little kids left in cars to a complete 'nutter' walking down the street brandishing a metal bar hitting things with it completely off his head- which funnily enough- I posted about in Hackenthorpe a while back.. precisely to stop the good people of the forum and sheffield meeting him while on the street outside and perhaps getting a beating for no reason. Thats why I think people post on here with these things. Because we do actually care about people enough-and about our area to make it a better place, and if we can do that by posting on this forum and getting the message across that these things are happening and where they are.. we can help everyone in some way. The police helicopter serves a purpose, to catch people doing stuff that is wrong.. I'd rather it be up in the sky aiding our police force to catch idiots I'd rather not be seeing on the streets :) -- Nice avatar though mate by the way :) jules99 18-08-2005, 23:46 oh dear, wish id never bothered starting this, think i will stick to just reading the posts, hahahaha, better join the new one p.s should i ask permision before i start a thread next time is there a special protocol i dont know about? Pipine 18-08-2005, 23:50 Jules post whatever you like... its one of the main reasons I read sheff forum - to see what unusual things may have happened in sheff recently.. I'm inherently nosey! ANGELUS 18-08-2005, 23:50 No - please do report stuff like this Jules!! That way we all know whats going on in the area. Its a good read- I'm nosey as hell so I need to be kept informed of whats going on around me- thats why the sheff forum is perfect for me.. keep up the good work :) danum 18-08-2005, 23:51 No its just people being silly, your cool its our local area and of course I was interested thats what the forum is for. marshy 18-08-2005, 23:53 like i said-i was in chapeltown and i was interested!!xx marshy 18-08-2005, 23:56 by the way ledzeppelin is still postin elsewhere?! LedZeppelin 18-08-2005, 23:59 I'm still awake. Your post above is fine. But a sense of humour helps. I am not being offensive to anyone or any machine such as police helicopters. Angelus I am not a minger (see other post) that is offensive!! Now get a grip , shake yourself down and don't worry about what I've posted. In my mind it is funny imagining all these people looking/listening out for the helicopter and then racing to post on here. That's all. Harmless thoughts that have gone through my head. I aint called anyone minger either. Peace people (except when the helicopter goes over).. Just for the record it does a splendid job at catching people and that's gotta be a good thing. Danum thanks for wishing me goodnight. I too would like to extend this to your good self and hope you have a good nights rest, ready for the new day. And I mean EVERYTHING. The buildings, the roads - even the sky. It's just black out there. I'm scared! Anyone else in Sheffield experiencing this now? Strix 19-08-2005, 00:46 I thought I heard the helicopter :suspect: Patio door open, wireless laptop..... chop, chop, chop, chop, chop, chop, chop.... As I live realtively near it's launchpad, I think I can safely report that it has now returned to base  Panic over :D (PS - I use this forum for sheffield news - this forum usually outdoes the star by a day or two ;) ) redrobbo 19-08-2005, 00:59 O.K. so now that we've sorted out the little spat, and peace has been restored between forum members, and LedZeppelin has nicely said goodnight to everyone....... does anyone know what caused this bang in Walkley? Or are we no wiser? kblade 19-08-2005, 02:08 Oooo I think I've been through all emotions in this thread.... *wipes brow* :o Oh and um.... nowhere near Walkley sorry. I worked up there years ago which doesn't help really  Thunder? Led I was slightly disturbed by your avatar...... yes indeed when the ad with the music 'shakin that ass' came on as I was viewing the thread and saw the pic I'm sure it became erm.....:suspect: :hihi: :D ANGELUS 19-08-2005, 07:01 Originally posted by LedZeppelin I'm still awake. I by the looks of it doing a good job :-) ANGELUS 19-08-2005, 08:05 She must love her job mate!! :) Thats the kind of cleaner I need at the house JoeP 19-08-2005, 08:09 Originally posted by jules99 oh dear, wish id never bothered starting this, think i will stick to just reading the posts, hahahaha, better join the new one p.s should i ask permision before i start a thread next time is there a special protocol i dont know about? Hi there, No special protocol, it's just that every now and again someone appears who just has to have a dig. Ignore them and carry on! Thanks for kicking the thread off and please continue to do so! Joe ANGELUS 19-08-2005, 08:12 Same for me as what Joe has just said Jules. Keep up the good work! :) LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 08:55 I've been told to change the avatar. I have done. Sometimes people on here don't have a sense of humour. "No special protocol, it's just that every now and again someone appears who just has to have a dig." I wasn't having a dig. I have never offended anyone in my life and wouldn't do so. Likewise with the posts. Jules was happy with me once I made clear my thoughts. I even wished some people good night like a good mannered gentleman that I am! Have a good day people and be good. danum 19-08-2005, 09:05 You made that clear last night no need to explain again. Hope you slept well? LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 09:16 Thankyou. Slept quite well. Tossed then turned about half 3. Sure I heard the copter about 4 but apart from that I slept very well thankyou. So what was the big bang? danum 19-08-2005, 09:20 Your guess is as good as mine I didn't hear it just the 'copter in the distance, at the time i was busy ranting with my house mate over the sniffer dog thread! kblade 19-08-2005, 09:45 Oh I hope they didn't ask you to change it becasue of me!! I was having fun :o LedZeppelin 19-08-2005, 09:51 It was an honest picture of an honest women cleaning the floor. However having looked at it for longer I can sort of see where the request to change it came from. This is a family website and avatars of women scrubbing floors is not deemed acceptable. :-) Classic Rock 19-08-2005, 12:18 It was probably a car backfiring. They cause the most bangs in the street. Then again, fireworks make banging noises, but not as well as cars do. They're LOUD. Splodge_CRB 19-08-2005, 13:28 Originally posted by Classic Rock It was probably a car backfiring. Might've been the thieves who stole my car. |
