Does anyone know what's happened to Wokmania? My bf and I passed it today and there was a sign on the door saying 'Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are closed until further notice'.

:suspect:

At a guess, I would say an unforeseen circumstance led to Wokmania being unable to open.

I don't know about unforeseen circumstances, According to signs that were on the doors about three weeks ago, it's closing down as Wokmania, as of 28th(?) Feb, and being rebranded.

The wokmania/ pizza mania/ spicemania etc in l**ds closed down quite a while ago.

Got to say, the Wokmania on West St was dire.

What did you expect for a fiver?
it was aim at cheap students and unemployed people so they can have a night out, Anyone with any sense will not go into a crap place like that

Was it as cheap as a fiver? Whenever I went past, it always looked like it was a tenner or something which seemed a bit much. The all you can eat buffet I go to a lot in London still only costs £8 at peak time.

Anyway, I'm off to East One for Sunday lunch now - as long as that stays open, I'll be happy :)

Last time we went in it cost us £11.99 each, that was a couple of months ago and we haven't been back since

The Leeds one was shut by environmental health quite a few years ago - may be the same fate has befallen the Sheffield one? God it was nasty though, wasn't it? You'd not make the mistake of going there twice! lol!

I reckon it has been shut down till it gets itself sorted, i frankly only ever went in there once and did not like it, there was not enough choice and the prices for the food was silly. Plus lets face it has lots to compete with.

No, it quite definitely had posters on the door, stating it was closing down as WM, and reopening under a different branding...

Unforseen circumstances - did they serve something edible? Went once and didn't pay as it was particularly rubbish.

The furniture was being removed today so it won't be opening again soon I guess. When it first opened it was ok but it soon went down hill

It was ok a bout 4 years ago....you cant complain when it was 4.99 for all you can eat.....then for some reason, the prices rapidly went up, yet the food didnt get better......me thinks they got to greedy

ask your friend if it will sell actual food rather than the pig swill they have been flogging all these years.

I believe it was the unpaid 30k electricity bill that got the place shut down in the end, nothing to do with food standards.

As far as Chinese buffets go, it always seemed mildly better than that Jumbo place down the road!

So you are saying they hadn't paid the leccy bill in, what, two to three years?

I don't know- it was head office that hadn't paid the bill but im not sure how long they have avoided paying it for.

They came the other day, gave the manager 5 minutes to get everyone out and then closed the place.

Maybe jumbos can move into Wokmania...

Jumbo's nicer food + Wokmania's nicer venue = Win all round? :)

I quite like the food at Jumbos, but tend to find the place a bit cramped. Moving would be perfect, or even opening a second place
