Can anyone help, i am considering changing my wired router to a wireless one, want to connect the kids wii up, and was wondering if it was possible. I am on virgin media and am using the wired router they provided but just want to know which would be the best wired router, if poss, to use without having to contact virgin and faffing about.

It depends what technology they use in your service - i.e. ADSL / ADSL+ / VDSL / Et cetera. Netgear's kit is pretty good - their "ProSafe Wireless-N Access Point" for example - as is their documentation. (I've only got a wired on of theirs - albeit paired up with an AirPort Express - but it does the job and isn't as ugly as most.) Certainly get an 802.11n device to make inter-computer file transfers and VNC links as best as can be - providing, that is, they all operate at that speed. (Some devices offer multiple network standards but bridging them can be tricky. ) Try and buy online too to save a mint rather that get ripped off in the likes of PC World.
i have a spacr one and its 3 month old looking 4 £30 for it
If its virgin cable, you need to get an 'ethernet' wireless router and you will still need to use thier modem..
if you got your connection in the last couple of years, they would have provided a netgear wireless router along with thier modem, if you didn't get one, give them a call and they'll happily send you one out.
if your on the 50mb connection, they will send you a reall nice DLink router.

If you try and get one off your ISP and they want to charge you then mention how competitors offer them and that you're thinking of switching.
P.S. The Netgear device I suggested is a Wireless Access Point only so best ignore that unless you've got a suitable plug coming in.
If you have a wired router is it near the Wii .. ? if it is you might be better off getting a Wii Network Adapter .. you can pick these up second hand for about £10 ... i found the Wii is much better since using an Hardwire rather than Wireless ..
Col ..
Have to agree with Col on this I got one of the Datel network adapters, about £15, for the kids Wii it worked a lot better than wireless, also obviously less hassle having to setup WiFi security, if possible I would recommend this route the wire could be a problem but in the long run it is less troublesome
