View Full Version : Samsung Mobile Phone, help
sheff man 06-03-2010, 15:13 Hello, I have a mobile phone, (Samsung).
Well it’s set to ring an emergency contact (a family member on my sim), if I hold down on the volume control on the side of phone.
Haven’t got the book to disable this function and not sure what this function is called and how to disable this function.
Anyone understands this function and can advise how to disable, would be much appreciated.
Thanks, sheff man
a model number would be helpful, because they don't all have this :)

Thanks
oh, its one of them :/
as far as I know, theres no such feature on the SGH-J700, I have also just trawled through the manual from the samsung website, and theres no mention of that feature there either.
things like this are usually set under the contacts option, under the speed dial setup (press <Menu> → Phonebook → Speed dial.)
there is an SOS message setting, maybe thats what you mean? this is found here (<Menu> → Messages → SOS messages → Sending options.)
sheff man 07-03-2010, 13:11 Thank you very much, Ghozer. It was SOS messages.
Never even knew about this function.
Again, thank you very much.

post your problem, and we'll see what we can do ;)
samstar999 07-03-2010, 16:12 OK ...
1) I seem to have three different desktops - which in itself is not a problem but I don't know why and I would rather only have one
2) More importantly - there is a menu bar thingy down the left hand side where you keep your so-called 'widgets' I don't want all the things in there but can't get rid of them. I have gone into 'settings' - display - widgets and I can see that you can tick or untick items but they are still flippin well there - and also - some of them don't have a name in the list of widgets anyway ..like the music player and the radio.
I just want to get rid of them!
Does this make any sense? Thanks again.
If you right click the menu bar is there an option to delete?
samstar999 07-03-2010, 16:37 You can only open and close the menu bar and if you touch any of the things in there they come out to main screen. Then you can drag them back again but I don't see how to delete ... very frustrating!!!
Firstly, the 3 'home pages' are designed so you can put different widgets on each one, as far as i'm aware you can disable them in the settings, I think (but will double check later) it's under the profile > home screen menu..
as for the widgets, some of them you cannot remove, and will stay there perma.. this is by design and without hacking the phone software theres no way round this.
thats what happens when samsung designed the omnia using windows mobile, and the widgets thing, then decided to make 'cheaper' versions based on the same idea but thier own software..
samstar999 07-03-2010, 19:58 Oh, right - well if there's nothing I can do then so be it! At least I know now - so it won't bother me so much. (don't get the three home pages thing but I don't suppose it really matters!)
As you seem to know a fair bit about this - are there any useful or fun widgets out there or is it gimmicky and not as good as the apple ones?
Thanks very much!
