View Full Version : Strange things in the sky
Maniac man 01-03-2010, 23:48 How weird, my stepson just come in from work and said he had seen something in the sky flying over shiregreen area(and no he's not on drugs). He shouted us out and we all witnessed an object with 3 yellowish lights in a triangular form with a red central light flying quickly with a humming noise in a NNE to SSW direction. This is not a usual flight path for commercial flights in this area.
Anyone else seen this or similar?
WEIRD
nightsky 02-03-2010, 00:54 They are alot of chinese lanterns been set off at the minute, maybe it was one of those????
Seeing as this topic has been to death, I'll not post the obvious.. I'll just comment on this..

No I dont, but I know what other people think especially about younger people. Did you notice that I mentioned he had just finished work , try not to be so flipant and judgemental . Stick to the subject. This was NOT a chinese lantern. Thanks

Its a shame that people are quick to judge others, unfortunately the mere mention of youngsters from Shiregreen conjures up a stereotypical image. Sadly, i know only one family that live on the 'Green' and im afraid to say that they fit this image of worthless scrotes perfectly.
As for the UFO..... perhaps it was 3 Chinese lanterns connected by a coat hanger?

websters gue 02-03-2010, 20:45 Why does everyone forget that they've got a mobile phone or a digital camera when they see these things.

Have you ever tried to photograph a Chinese Lantern UFO. The reflection from your tin foil hat usually ruins the image.

Silly me, I forgot about that.
I did see a strange thing myself today,Id say it was a balloon
however it looked like a paddling pool (with no centre) drifting over Ecclesfield,
Ive never seen a "ring" like that,it was just drifting with the wind,
with the naked eye it was a bright coloured "star",I got several photo's showing it looked like a ring,
Quite high up as well,
JJ..:)

Taking everything into account and previous similar cases I can say with 100% certainty it was a chinese lantern. ;)

Lol, nice one. Love a bit of tinfoil hattery. :)
puddinburner 03-03-2010, 12:15 About two weeks ago? When Paul the weather man was on? I saw it too cos was looking out of kitchen window at the time. Triangle in shape, about 4 thousand feet up and traveling very fast. Thought it was the Vulcan to be honest but then remembered its not even flying at the mo. Waited for it to appear again from cloud but it never did? Yes, it was certainly strange coming from shiregreen, working and not on drugs in anyway:-)
Rainking 03-03-2010, 12:21 You can buy kites with led lights on nowadays, could it be one of these broken free of it's strings? Doesn't explain any noise though.
Forumosaurus 03-03-2010, 12:42 Please someone make a strange things in the sky/UFO/chinese lantern megathread!
tom19890305 03-03-2010, 12:45 The Aliens are watching over the drug dealings! they want to see your drug leader! so they can get some skunk.
lonelylad5656 03-03-2010, 13:25 look anything like this? http://www.ufoevidence.org/photographs/section/1990s/Photo219.htm or this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TriangleBelgium1990.jpg
They sound like your explanation. Originally spotted in Belgium in 1990, f15's were scrambled by the Belgium government, when they locked on their radars to the object it dropped 2000ft in about 1 second then went from around 250km/hr to 1000+km/hr in about same amount of time, taking swift evasive action. Latter it was thought to be a TR-3B USAF nuclear powered top secret test flight, the design of which is shown hear. http://www.ufos-aliens.co.uk/tr-3b.jpg and picture hear http://tr-3b.com/orion1.jpg The original Belgium one was thought to be tested from a U.K r.a.f base so i presume they still test them from r.a.f bases.

Yeah apparently this "thing" can hover and then zoom at unbeliveable speed without giving off a sonic boom, or even any type of sound. Its got secret propulsion technology, thought to be nuclear powered and or anti gravity. And it really does exist, Beligum minister gave the original statement about the f-15's locking onto it in 1990 :o
mapleboy 03-03-2010, 18:45 I can confirm it was definitely a UFO.
The OP saw something, therefore it was an Object.
It was up in the air and thus could not unreasonably be described as Flying.
The OP couldn't identify what it was, so it was Unidentified.
Case closed? Who needs Mulder and Sculley when you've got me? ;)

Given the problems that I had getting a Chinese Lantern off the ground for your little shindig... I'm beginning to believe in UFOs. It seems a much more believable thing that getting one of those buggers up above the trees.:D

Nah then seen one o them lantern things tonight ....................................twernt newt lik ewot we saw t':|other nite
That is because "ewot" you saw the other night was part of an advance party for an alien invasion.
If I were you, I would go to the cellar now, with multiple cans of Corned Beef. Take some Alcan with you to fashion a hat. Stay there, for three years. If the doorbell rings, don't answer it, for God's sake, please don't.
In this way, and this way alone, will you remain safe and ultimately be able to spread your Star Spawn.
Darwin would be proud of you.
Mr_Squirrel 10-01-2011, 21:22 Or did it look like THIS (http://www.sykesssillysite.co.uk/scary/scary_ufo_sheffield_incident.jpg)?

megalithic 11-01-2011, 00:11 I started a thread a few months back for sighting known not to be Chinese lanterns, it was deleted.

Here you go, they aint ufo's anymore.
The plasma theory used to explain what could create such a phenomena may not be as far fetched as it sounds.
In 2008 the Plasma-Propelled Flying Saucer was invented.
