No one does neutering for free. Why would they?
Peak vets, Woodseats are very reasonable. If you were on benefit which I assume you aren't you would be able to have your cat neutered at the RSPCA at a reduced cost but it doesn't cost the earth to neuter a male cat at any vets. Best for your cat, and others!

It's less than £50 at many vets (including Highfields on London Road- I checked them recently) and this is the sort of thing that you really do need to be planning for when taking an animal on.

Around £33 at Peak. Spire at Chesterfield about £26. So no excuse for not having cat done!

I would try and get him done ASAP not long till Kitten season... He will be off out spreading the love if you dont catch him quick!!

it is xpensive min was going to cost 85pounds, which i would have payed anyway if i had to obviously b ut if you dont have a car and have ti stick to a loclal vet ull be hard pushed to get it at 26 if your not on benefits, should do what i did extra shifts at work i managed to raise 150 in that month to get him neuteredt and chipped at the same time, unfortunatly the little might passed away the week before he was going to be booked in, but if you realy want to get him done then work that little bit harder

Try the web address for a charity who offer reduced services at certain vets - may be a bit far but haven't checked the actual vets.

Don't know whether or not CATS protection are still giving vouchers out to get £30 off the price of neutering. They were last year when my friend had 3 kittens dumped on her, she had them neutered at Peak (Olivet Road, Woodseats) and with the vouchersI think the males were about £11 and the female £13.

No,CP are not giving out vouchers for £30. They are cutting back! £20 for male, £26 for female but I don't think this would apply to Gossy unless on benefit. Everyone needs to get their cats neutered at this time of year. Breeding season is starting. Then rescues will be inundated with requests from irresponsible owners for homes for their unwanted kits. Pet owners need to prioritise. The cost of neutering is far cheaper than tattoos, cigs and booze!

It appears from the OP's amendment to their post that they won't be responding to the thread because of receiving some less than positive feedback to their query.

I'm afraid that people expecting to receive vet treatment for a non-critical condition for nothing is one of the things that does get my goat. If you choose to take on an animal then there are proactive health planning things for which you need to budget.

Animals are expensive things and someone has to pay for these costs one way or another with fund raising- would you rather the small pot of available funds went to pay for subsidising non-critical health issues or to look after an animal who has suffered cruelty or been hit by a car? Once the pot is empty, it's empty and the next animal in through the door doesn't have their vet bills paid.
