View Full Version : Anyone using Andrews & Arnold as ISP?

After 8 years with Plusnet, I'm ready for a change, and have requested my MAC. Andrews & Arnold seem to be competitively priced nowadays, and their definitions of peak/off-peak have always appealed to me. Does anyone in the Sheffield area have experience of them?

They seem to be offering a free 1-port router on sign-up, but that's not exactly a lot of use: I assume I can just continue using my current router (Netgear DG834N) without any problems?

I've not had experience of them, but I would steer clear of their Be service and go with the BT. I was with Be for a year and got nothing like the speeds advertised. It all depends on the quality of your line and distance from the exchange though.

I'm not sure whether you are a qualifying "...new install..." customer as mentioned here (http://www.aaisp.net.uk/broadband-accessories.html) (read further to find out) but if you're taking on their ADSL service rather than the ADSL2+ or VDSL ones then your device will do.

Just to round this off, I moved to Andrews & Arnold yesterday without any problems. I'm on BT 21CN ADSL2+. That's the same as I was on at Plusnet, who insisted that I couldn't get more than the 2200/440 speeds that I was getting then because of my distance from the exchange. After several router resyncs, I'm now on a stable 4667/903 connection. For a quid less than I was paying at Plusnet, I get 100GB off-peak usage per month (to be increased to 200GB in April, and which even now allows upto 1TB between 02:00 and 06:00). And the nice thing is that their peak hours are 09:00-18:00 Monday-Friday, which are times when I can't get online much...

I could go on, but I don't want to sound like I'm plugging them particularly. Just that if anyone is fancying a change of ISP, A&A are one you may not have heard of, but they are definitely worth considering.
