I know there were loads of posts on here a while ago about beggars in Sheffield and 'John, the friendliest beggar in Sheffield' was mentioned in quite fond terms. In about the last 3-4 months I have been approached by about 6 beggars claiming they are the same guy. It worked the first time I was hit by one and they seem to do well, most people give them money/ Are they using this forum for Market research????????
Seriously though, it seems to happen mostly outside the Museum pub, and the last time I saw it happened a fairly well dressed guy came round with a cup (the top of a shiny new thermos flask) and begged whilst his 'mate' sat on a bench in Orchard Square. A couple of days later I saw another 'John' doing a very obvious drug purchase from the same 'mate' down on the moor. In his shoes if any police men are listening. Have our heroin dealers started marketed researching on here so the junkies can get more money?? Nothing would surprise me now. If you have money to give, give it to Shelter, not these chancers.
