Well, we've had a good winter with Brude's back problem, but a few days ago his walk went wooden again, and he's carrying his back less than straight - so he's been on the metacam again :(

He's had a dirty bottom for a couple of weeks, which is most unlike him, and it's not been getting better, so that needed looking at...

... he's had really strong smelling urine for a few days too - so we needed a sample testing...

... and whilst we're on the phone making appointments... aren't his boosters due?

Sheesh, it felt like he was falling apart!

We've been given more metacam, had our boosters, urine is fine (probably discomfort when weeing as his back's bad, and you know Brude, he knows drinking and weeing are related  ), and of the four stages of anal gland infection, we've caught him at stage one, and the vet has emptied them for us :gag: :)

He's not even as much overweight as I thought he should be with more people living here and giving him treats, and with me not being able to walk him as much as I'd like (I don't like the vet's wall chart saying beagles should be 8-14kg though! Brude's weight should be 14.5-15.5 I'm sure!)

Aw bless him. I feel like I live at the vets lately! So know exactly how you feel!

Eddy also realises that weeing and drinking are related... it's really bad cos he needs to drink as much as possible due to his kidney disease but he won't drink til he knows I'm there to let him out whereas I'd rather if I got stuck somewhere and was late back, he just had a drink and wee'd in the kitchen!

When you open the door and say 'go wee wees' the girls go running out and Eddy runs to the water bowl

Hope Brude is doing ok now and that when this stupid weather gets a bit better his back eases a bit :)

Awww, poor Eddie!

I think the food we're giving him is doing the trick, but it's bounding about in the snow he's done himself a mischief!

No idea what's caused the anal gland problem, but so glad we caught it in time, as we've not been given anti biotics for it or anything :)

It's a bugger how it all seems to come at once, isn't it? You don't need to go near the vets for months, then all the ailments strike!

I'm glad you caught young Brude in the early stages with the anal glands and hope the lad is back on form quickly.

I'm impressed him and Eddy can actually associate drinking with peeing - Zeb is so thick he can't even associate having a bowl of kibble with drinking! He has his dinner, goes out, then comes back in and settles down for a nap - then suddenly realises he's thirsty, so goes for a drink. :loopy:
