I've just received my letter today regarding the decent homes scheme, with the questionaire to choose the styles of door, paint colours etc.
Any tips on what to avoid? I'm guessing the green paint they offer will be quite overpowering in a full room! :)

We have the green paint in our bathroom. That's if it's the aple green that your talking about. We chose that as it's broken up by tiling round the bath and the sink/window area. I think it looks quite nice but then we have a small bathroom.
For the kitchen we chose beech colour cupboards with the spotty silver handles and black work surfaces. We chose magnolia for the paint and it looks quite clean and airy :)
Not sure if the options have changed since we had ours done 3 years ago.

Ive been fitting the kitchens for Decent homes for 4 years.Have the beech or maple kitchen as they come with the same colour carcases as the doors + look more proffessional.DONT have the dark oak,it comes with white carcases + looks POO!!!.What area are you,you never know I may end up fitting yours

I'd just like to say that I visited a house in my council ward before the Decent Homes programme began. The lady invited me back to see the difference when the modernisation work was all finished.
When I stepped into her kitchen and looked about, I said I couldn't believe the difference. The transformation from a drab pre-war kitchen to one with modern fittings and a lovely colour* paint on the walls was remarkable.
But the lady said nothing. When I turned towards her, she was quietly dabbing the tears in her eyes. She was crying tears of joy.
* it was a pastel green by the way.
