Would you be interested in accommodating a French speaker?

Perhaps having a French speaker in the house would help you or your children to learn or improve their French? Do you have spare space in your house?

I am asking on behalf of a 21-year-old man who would like to come and live and work here in Sheffield. He is a former pupil at a school I used to work at as an English assistant (some years ago now!) near to Liège. He also speaks Italian: he has recently been doing a similar thing in Italy, staying with a family and working, learning Italian.

This arrangement could be just a few weeks while he finds his feet or maybe a longer-term arrangement if you would like to prolong it. Obviously, he would pay you rent.

Please PM me if you think this sounds interesting. I would be able to try and organise getting some references sent over if needed (they may be in French or Italian, but I reckon I could translate for you!).

Thanks in advance.

I posted a similar post in the accommodation wanted thread but I wondered if this should be a general Sheffield question. Do you know anyone who would be interested in accommodating a French speaker? Maybe it would help them or their children to learn or improve their French?

He was brought to my attention by an ex-colleague from the school, who seems to highly recommend him!

Does it!? I think people have taken in young French speakers before to help them learn French. When I worked over there, they organised a little self-contained room/flat for me in someone's house and I was very grateful I didn't have to navigate through the minefield of property ads and unfamiliar ways of paying bonds, deposits, bills and so on. I wasn't shifty.

Think Tom is pulling ya leg :hihi:. Great way for someone to learn the language....both ways.

Yeah, excuse the sense of humour by-pass. (Thought by taking the bait I might bump the thread without getting trouble from the mods...)

Moopind, i hope you don't mind me messaging you on here in a stalker-like fashion, and i hope i've got the right person?!
Is this the same 'moopind' that posts on anorak forums?
I can't get my registration sorted out on there so i typed your user name into google and this is what came up.
It's about the Fender Lead II guitar you have!
I've been after one in red for years (i sold mine reluctantly for £100 to an ex band-mate about 5 years ago and regretted it ever since) i randomly saw the discussion up on anorak and though i'd get in touch as it'd make my YEAR to be able to get hold of one.
In an odd zen/planets-allined turn of chance, i actually have a custom built 12 string (you said you might want to trade?) that my father had built for him that i'd just about be willing to let go of BUT, it's an acoustic, not electric 12 string.. If that was of no interest i'd be more than happy to buy it off you if you had a reasonable price in mind.
Please get back to me and let me know either way as i've been searching for one in red with a maple neck for years.
Again sorry for messaging you like this and sorry if i've got the COMPLETELY wrong person..!
I can be contacted on 07849217984
or scaredofwater@hotmail.com
Thanks!
Elliot.
