My daughter has a couple of friends coming up from Oxford on Monday and they are wanting to camp for a couple of days. Does anyone know any local campsites or just anywhere they can pitch up their tent for a couple of nights?

We live in Hillsborough so the nearer the better.

Thank you.

PS Please don't suggest out garden as we don't have one lol!

This doesn't look promising :(

Yell.com was even worse

Hope near castleton is always a nice place to camp- it has showers and is pretty cheap too :D :D

Some friends of ours stayed at the Fox Hagg site a couple of years back and it was fine - also very good for Hillsborough.

This is on a really steep hill and I think may only store caravans whilst not in use now rather than have campers on it.

try www.ukcampsite.co.uk as they have a good search facility for sites, and the ones in Hope are listed

Thanks everyone.

The only thing is these are two 16/17 year old's whjo are coming up on the train and have no transport to get anywhere that's a bit out of the way.

Does anyone know the legalities of just piching a tent up on a bit of green space?

If you're thinking of the park or on the common, think again! I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed (plus it's not very safe!).

The campsite at Hope is good for public transport. It's right at the back of the pub, and there's lots of families that use it so it'd be good for teenagers (adults about, but not supervised if you know what I mean).

Another suggestion for Hope, there are at least two campsite that I know which are close to the train station.

Try Dempsey's Bar on the Moor. You can camp 'til your heart's content in there.
