Hi,
We are thinking of marrying at Hardwick Hall but are considering having the reception event elsewhere - a pub with a field for a marquee or a local farm.
We really want to find somewhere in easy driving distance where we can organise our own catering, pitch a big tipi and create a more relaxed atmosphere.
Any advice would be great!

Wow, love the idea of a tipi I love the ones from Papakta they are amazing, I would say a farm would be your best bet. Try and google ones in the area!

Is this the Hardwick Hall that's near Chesterfield? It's a lovely venue.
Just a quick word of caution about a marquee, if you are planning to have a disco with a DJ in a marquee, you'd need to be able to give the DJ a mains supply as equipment is very sensitive and if run from a generator, there can be surge of power issues, which I've seen damage amps and computers first hand. It's not like running lights, where you'll only see a flicker if there's a change of power, it can severely damage the equipment.
I'm afraid I can't comment on venues near to Hardwick Hall - this is Sheffield Forum after all, you'd need to have someone read this thread who has knowledge of the Chesterfield area.
Hi
Just wondering if you were able to find somewhere suitable? We are also in love with the papakatas but just don't know where to put them (short of making a very rich chum with massive garden)..
Thanks
