No, no, no... its just a program.
You are not really a captain of a spaceship with a 'crew'
Its not real.. see Galaxy Quest the movie for more info.
I dont get the mental Star Trek and Star Wars fans!
Its just a film and a TV Series.

I just thought it a shame that it was only going on about the conventions in the States as I'm sure there are conventions in the UK that have the same sort of 'odd' characters attending.
If I understand it correctly if a group of fans live in the same area they take a ship's name and become the crew although I assume the captain's post has to be rotated as that is what so many people would aspire to.
I thhought the guy in his mid 20's with all the model data's in the differeing uniforms was funny as although he claimed to be a 'Trekkie' I'm sure he had a model of a storm trooper? one of the characters out of Star Wars at the end of the line.
The Klingon translation of Hamlet????? Some people must have a lot of time on their hands but it did raise vague memories of some college that have a degree in Klingon.
I felt exceedingly sorry for the animals that were dressed up in Star Fleet uniforms particularily the cat called Bones in the blue smock.
At least they believe in something real.
I mean Captain Picard is played by an actual man. (Who is quite fond of the character he helped create). It's tangible. It's real. It happened.
Now... lets talk about all those nutters who gather in Church conventions each week (nevermind each year).
They all dress up
They all believe...
