I have some things taped on cassette which I would like to put onto my computer. I tried the obvious, connecting cassette to the input source, but it saves it as a WAV file which, at a sampling rate of 1141 uses an extraordinate amount of memory, and will only run for a maximum of 60 seconds. There must be someone out there who's tried this before, and sorted it, so info would be much appreciated.

Record your cassette into a wav, using for example 'Steingberg's Wavelab' or 'Sonic Sound Forge', then using conversion software such as dbAMP (use the search) you can convert your WAV into MP3 or OGG.
