Luckily it's an operation that I'll never need! ;) I think you're very brave though.

Knowing what you know now, would you do it again if you could turn the clock back?

Definitely not... I have a very low pain threshold you see.. The only thing that would make me get me ******** lopped off is if I absolutely had to in a life or death situation.

They don't cut your bits off Rich! :D They just cut or clamp some of the pipework!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's been successful when you go to get it checked out. It really would be a nightmare if you went through all that for nothing!

I've heard you age more slowly if you have the plumbing reworked. Something to do with a fall in testosterone.

Am I urban mything again?

NO WAY! To be honest I cant see the point of them. Id ask my girlfirend to go on the pill rather than have the snip - unless their was an actual medical benefit.

I think I'll keep my plumbing intact.... :)

Deavon, not heard that about aging - I would have thought that the testosterone is still being produced, though, after a vasectomy.

I thought that it was a purely physical thing - just snipping out a bit of plumbing to stop the little soldiers getting to the scene of the action....

I may be wrong though. And I did type all this without crosisng my legs or wincing!

Joe :)

I think that the testes simply stop producing sperm when they're not used.

It's the same thing that happens when you don't ejaculate for a while - your body is pretty good at not doing things that aren't needed.

I think this is how it works - it's 30 years since I had those particular biology lessons. :)

In other words the soldiers aren't conscripted. :)

Joe i think the testes still produce the sperm but cant get any further because of the cut and burnt tubes :o .When i had it done they told me to have plenty of sex to get rid of the sperm still in the tubes, this process takes weeks depending on how much sex you have. Thats all well and good but ive only just started to want sex again after two weeks because they were like mellons :gag:

The body continues to produce sperm after the procedure, but the testicles naturally reabsorb the unneeded sperm.

That's better - I vaguely remember that now!

Thanks for correcting my failing memory.... :)

Am discussing this with my husband. When I went for my last smear, earlier on this year, the nurse reckoned that as my periods are still very regular at 42, I could still be 8 years away from the menopause. I get pregnant very easily, so a vasectomy is starting to be seriously discussed as an option.

So experiences please from any men out there who've had one. Am sick to death of panicking every month. I don't want any more children. I have 2 beautiful ones, but am done.

well i had it done (as my post above also says) a fair few years back.
apart from the obvious....instant discomfort (not really pain) since then....no problem at all, and no need to use contraceptives :D

its a hell of a lot easier, quicker, nicer having it done than the woman having it done too.
although our friends (neighbours) are having his reversed...tch...cos they want another kid...got 3 already, then he'll prolly need the snip again lol.....tch
now thats pushing it

As an alternative to picking your nose with rubber gloves on, it's the only game in town. Just summoning the courage.

As an analogy, that one is wrong on so many levels it's very nearly right.

There is a medical benefit, the woman doesn't have to undergo major surgery!

could be more than 8 years, my mum got caught pregnant when she was 52, she thought she was in the change ........ she chose not to continue with the pregnancy. My OH had the snip after the birth of our second child and its the best thing he's ever done, sex has never been so liberated! :D

Or pump their bodies full of synthetic hormones which increase the risk of breast cancer. Would you be quite so understanding if your gf had to have a mastecomy?

Thanks PL. Fortunately, Mr S has private health cover through work (shudders at this admission, is against all principles, but a perk of his job).
