Was this the one on Owler Lane, heading towards Brightside, either next door or near to a pub? I'm sure my older brother used to buy books from the shop many years ago, although I have no idea what happened to the owners. Greybeard 16-08-2005, 22:04 It was on Upwell Street, next door to the pub I can't remember the name of on the opposite side to the Sheffield Arms. Just like a huge car boot sale inside :) Trever 16-08-2005, 22:23 Dennis Collins' Swap Shop on Upwell Street next to The Ball Inn pub. It's all boarded up now, but in its day was a great shop. I remember once buying a car battery charger from there and old Dennis wanted to try it out first before I bought it. He plugged it in but the crocodile clips were touching and loads of sparks came flying off em. He shat his pants :P Be nice to see some photos (of the shop, not Dennis in mid shat!) bellis 16-08-2005, 23:42 Originally posted by Trever Dennis Collins' Swap Shop on Upwell Street next to The Ball Inn pub. I think it was on the right hand side of the road if you were walking towards Grimesthorpe. I vaguely remember my dad taking me in there when I was a kid and he bought me some old comics. I think that when this shop closed down, Dennis moved to the one on Upwell Street. Can anyone confirm this or prove me wrong? pigeon 25-10-2007, 17:44 I seem to remember Dennis having a shop on Earlmarshal Road (near it's junction with Grimesthorpe Road) obviously long gone now. His wife Betty still lives on Upwell St near the Reform Chapel awoollen 27-10-2007, 17:11 yes it was opposite the old grimesthorpe junior school on the corner of grimesthorpe road...see the thread anybody come from grimesthorpe  who do you think this is pigeon http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff130/awoollen/2007-10-2709-42-23_0040.jpg janie-m 27-10-2007, 21:17 your like horse muck gemini 2 your every where Says you, I've seen your name on a few different threads:) It's nice to see that you're continuing to embarass pigeon with more photo's:) awoollen 01-11-2007, 13:43 Says you, I've seen your name on a few different threads:) It's nice to see that you're continuing to embarass pigeon with more photo's:) i like itgives me somehing to do |
