View Full Version : Sicey pub Shiregreen
Well were will the people in shiregreen go for a drink now that the sicey pub has closed down. Most of the other pubs in shiregreen have either gone bust or the landlords run out of town , or worst still they have been burnt out. Looks like a trip to the penguin then or the phesant
uncleheed 16-08-2005, 18:23 theres always the Shiregreen Hotel, but I wouldn't send a dog in there!
hopefully next week,i'm off of this crap estate and in my new house at Aston.
The Phesant for me..even thou i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
mikeyspikey 16-08-2005, 18:28 glad i dont drink--most pubs nowadays seem to be a breeding ground for trouble!!---i dont think anyone nowadays can call for a quiet drink and be 100% certain thats what theyll get!

I have been a couple of times and it seems ok.
The Dev Cat toilets are decorated like a harlequin, would you drink there ? lol
susa41981 16-08-2005, 22:32 Cant believe Sicey is shut down, droze past today and couldnt believe it. So people moved from horseshoe to sicey and now there all going to move to pheasant. There all slowly shutting one by one, wont be long where theres no where to drink around there at all and they'll all be moving down to travellers.
exsheffman 17-08-2005, 08:37 The wharncliffe at Firth Park has a bit of a bad rep but always seems ok when I have been in just recently. The pheasant is ok but hasn't changed much in years, and can be quite boring really, other than that enter the other pubs at ur own risk..lol! (aka The famous Roman Ridge on the flower estate, RIP burnt to a crisp)
Things really seem to have changed down there.
I remember in the 70's we used to go to the Sicey for a nice evening meal with my grandparents. I seem to remember that they had little houses built inside.
It was quite smart in it's day - just the place for a prawn cocktail, steak diane and blackforest gateau.
Very sad :(
andy4107 17-08-2005, 09:07 Has the Timber Top shut down, does anybody know? I drove past and it was all boarded up, but had the lights on!?
susa41981 17-08-2005, 22:08 been past timbertop tonigt and no its not shut down. Theres a for let sign up but thats been there ages. Still open as usual
Magneteer 19-08-2005, 11:50 The Sicey has no doubt closed down due to the ongoing problems with many of its customers over the last few years. There have been regular stories in the Star of brawls, glassings, stabbings, drug dealing etc etc. The cops were never away from the place. It was only a matter of time before the doors were finally closed and the windows boarded up, same as the Timbertop, Horseshoe, Magnet, etc. Most of the troublecausers will move to say the Pheasant, which will eventually suffer the same fate, and no doubt we'll see it boarded up as well in a couple of years time. Shame, you've got to feel sorry for all the normal punters who just want to have a pint, a natter and a game of darts/cards/quiz in their local.
