It should be in the 'local' section of W H Smiths or somewhere similar. I got mine from the City Library bookshop but I'm not sure if it's still there. nez75 16-08-2005, 17:49 There's also a thread in the Sheffield History section of this forum. bulldog D 16-08-2005, 21:00 My Grandmother who's 98 tells me about it all the time as she knew most of 'em. Mr Purple 16-08-2005, 21:11 My old [and late] next door neighbour knew all about it apparently. The little [and not necessarily accurte] information I know about it is that it was built on tossing rings which was betting on the tossing of a coin and which was illegal. Anyway it apperently climaxed in the death of one member from stabbing. And thats all I know -Mr Purple lee79 17-08-2005, 18:39 It is suppose to have got that bad Sheffield was nick named 'Little Chicago'!! Try waterstones as well I saw something in there on it once. nelly27 18-08-2005, 15:37 there's a book called "men of steel" - the history behind it. good read ive heard. |
