anybody know anything about it? I've heard there was quite a gangland scene throughout the city back then and i'm interested to find out more.

"The Sheffield Gang Wars" by J P Bean should tell you all you need to know. It should be in the 'local' section of W H Smiths or somewhere similar.

I got mine from the City Library bookshop but I'm not sure if it's still there.

My Grandmother who's 98 tells me about it all the time as she knew most of 'em.

My old [and late] next door neighbour knew all about it apparently. The little [and not necessarily accurte] information I know about it is that it was built on tossing rings which was betting on the tossing of a coin and which was illegal. Anyway it apperently climaxed in the death of one member from stabbing. And thats all I know

It is suppose to have got that bad Sheffield was nick named 'Little Chicago'!!

Try waterstones as well I saw something in there on it once.

there's a book called "men of steel" - the history behind it. good read ive heard.
