Hi,
My sister has just had a Cd recorded, she's a guitarist and singer and would like to know of a place local to Sheffield where she can have her details and picture etc printed onto her Cd's.
I haven't a clue so I thought I'd ask you guys!
Thanks,
Jane.

Probably cheaper in the long run to buy a CD laser printer and software yourself.....depends how many you intend to circulate of course....

i enquired about this for where I work.
cdr-media.co.uk wewre very helpful.
CDs started at about 70p including burning and printing directly onto the CDR in colour (min 300 units) down to about 50p per unit for 1000, but then they'd be pressed (like "proper" CDs) plus 13p per unit for full colour sleeves (and the CDs put into them).
Minimum sleeve order was 1000 and you'd have to set your own artwork.
Best thing to do is google CD authoring and you'll get quite a few companies. It's not cheap, however, so you're probably best starting small - get a DVD writer with "light scribe" (PC world has them, but they'll be cheaper online) as they can etch your design onto the top of the CD - although you have to use completely silver topped CDRs to get the best results.
Anyway, probably best to get a minimum run done by a company, as after you figure in all the hassle of doing it yourself, it's probably easiest....
Give Red Tape Studios in Sheffield a ring for contacts like this they are the music industry training school with european reputation.
They have genuine music indusrty contacts and assist their own bands in development with queries like this

I've just (this weekend) released a CD! We've not made many copies, but we burnt them ourselves, and had 4-colour laser printing done locally. They worked out at something like 80p each (for a sub-100 run), but we did the artwork ourselves. I suppose it all depends on the scale as to what's going to work out cheapest.
Hi All,
Many thanks for that information. I guess she would like to do it herself but she isn;t very pc literate so it would be ME that would end up doing it for her and I'm not really up for that as I wouldn't know where to start either.
brewnog - where did you have yours done as I think she would be looking at about 100, no more to start with.
mr-chris - I think she would only require about 100 really so maybe cdr media wouldn't be for her.
goldenfleece - how much are lazer printers and the software?
I know for what she has told me all she wants on the CD itself is the track listings going round the edge and on the cd cover a phtograph of her with her name and album title, nothing naff just plain and simple really.
Thanks again, Jane.

We burned the CDs ourselves, designed the artwork ourselves, and got Greystones Printing (Yellow Pages, or Google them!) to do the printing.
Good luck!
