Does anyone here use Sky broadband at the moment.
I've had years of trouble free BB with Tiscali, but now talktalk are taking over, they are putting 40gig limits on.
Need another talk & BB provider and would welcome any recommendations.

Orange do a phone and BB package, but I am not sure how they are in terms of quality. Try to aim for a provider with LLU, as access/ipstream packages with all isps now are all rubbish (thank BT for that).

Can You just transpose these bits for me LLU / ISPS / ipstream
Used to enjoy a constant 2 meg down speed b4 talktalk came along, now it fluctuates rapidly for no apparent reason

There are a few companies that have their own equipment in BT's phone exchanges, those are 'llu' internet service providers (isps). All the others are basically reselling a BT wholesale package (ipstream), it has to go a long way through BT's network to get to your isp, this slows it down & makes it more expensive (that's what BT are good at)
Use samknows to find out which companies have their equipment in your local exchange: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/
From reading reports on the internet, o2 & be seem to be the best adsl, we're just waiting for bt to install a phone line in our office, then that's who we're registering for.
Alternatively, if you can get Virgin Media cable (not adsl), you should. You'll have to live in an area that they wired for cable tv to get it.

Hi Firemansam,
I am with TT (TalkTalk) and have been since moving from BT phone and signed up about 3-6 months after to the BB package when it first came out.
I had some speed problems but their forum is superb in dealing with issues as CPW/TT staff are present and when I raised issues on speed they modified my profile and I am very happy - though I would love to live next door to the Exchange! Currently download speeds are 244-270 Mbps and uploads about 60-70.
best regards,

Are you sure? Not kbps? As 270mbps would mean your line speed is around 3gbps?? where as 270kbps would put your line speed around 3meg?

I have been with sky for a couple of years. Pay £10 a month and get about 17Mbps down and 1Mbps up. Which is pretty good. Never really had any trouble with them. They only have good deals if they have their equipment in your local exchange though. They claim not to limit you on the top package. I have done about 400gb in a month without complaint, although that was only recently, so it may be still to come. :D
