Ok, ever since I added this to my machine the connection and strength drops all the time.

I connect to our Wireless network ok, then I connect to the Router..

As soon as I open up MSN or Internet Explorer the connection remains at 'Very Good' but the speed of the card drops to 5.5mbps to 11.0mbps..

Occasionally it will pop up to 48-54mbps but open pages is like using dial up

I've tried re-installing the card, tried another PCI slot and moving the PC around.. All to no avail.

Checked the Belkin site and I have the most upto date drivers.

I really puzzled because I know its not a hardware problem, the router and network recognise my machine when I connect but alas, I may as well just use dial up at times as that would be faster..

Anyone got a suggestion where I may be going wrong  :help:

No other PC's in the house are affected by this.. Just me :(

What make of router are you connecting to? I've had problems with Belkin wireless cards before when using them with a different manufacturer's access point/router.

We had the exact same problem. It didn't like connecting to the router with security/encryption enabled. so I turned it off and had no problems.

Depends if you want the security/encryption though...

What router you using is it's possible if you have an older router it may not be able to transmit at the higher speed

you haven't said how far from the access point you are.

If it's through several walls then the signal will be weak and suffer more from interference.

If you can, confirm that the problem still occurs from different (closer) locations.

Oooops kinda lost track of this..

Problem seems to be sorted now, My room is at the top right of the house, the router (Belkin) is in the dining room near the stairs.

My housemate has the attic room and never had this problem..

Im all stable for now thanks to lots of swearing :)

Its a secure network in the house and I was unable to connect without entering a password, I did try it :nono:

Anyways, Im up to 36-48 now so I'm a happy chappy.
