Hi all

I am new to all this so bear with me!
I am helping someone with a website powered by Aurora Media.

I am trying to find out how to add a slideshow of images from a disc I have onto a tab on the main page. I am also trying to find out how to publish miages/slideshows and messages on the front page as the website is currently under construction and I need a notice stating this (have a small one but wanted something big). I generally want to spice it up and add images and slideshows. Can anyone advise me please? It is for a small business venture. Thanks x

single images are easy, however 'slide shows' would require some JavaScript or to make them into a Flash animation...

Perhaps provide a link to your site, so we can get a better idea of what your wanting?

Hi how would I get Javascript on the page is it fairly easy? Sorry as you can tell I am a complete beginner just trying to help someone out while their damn internet connection is down! I (think) I have taken the site offline for now while work is done but when I put it live again I can link you via PM.

Off topic to the OP's question, so feel free to split the topic off mods.

Java and Javascript are two different things (http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/javascript/article.php/3470971).

The updates you are getting will be for Sun's Java (http://www.java.com/en/), specifically Java Runtime Environment 6

Look in the add/remove program list, You should see an entry for Java(TM) 6 Update 18

Older versions have security vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malware and should be removed. Vundo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vundo) is particularly known for it.

Remove older versions manually or with javara (http://raproducts.org/javara.html)
