View Full Version : Well.. Yesterday
Robbie Loving 14-02-2010, 16:54 I must say, it was a very good performance from the Blades. Remided me much of the last time we played Bristol and won 3-0.
We played some good attacking passing football. Very pleasing if I'm honest.
Bartley was amazing, what a dfender.
Camara, fantastic runs, always creating problems and a great finish.
But my MOTM was Williamson, run the show today, always seemed to be in front of the opposing player.
Granted, Bristol were poor, but this shows we can actually come out and play properly sometimes.
Shame Sham missed it all :p
couldnt agree more. im not blackwells biggest fan but credit where its due. williamson was very involved all the game. i think when the team out there we have agood chance cos weve got pace with ward, yeates and camara.one swallow does not make a summer though so im still showing caution.
Robbie Loving 14-02-2010, 17:05 On Yeates Kev, looked dangerous at times. But it's concerning how he pulls out of challenges, he will get his leg broke at some point if he keeps doing the same thing
again i agree with you robbie. but isnt it nice to see us play with two proper wingers? not quinn or cresswell asked to play there. a concern ive got is the defence situation. of the back five playing yesterday only one[geary] could be there next year, and then its all change again. its time to buy and start building a defence, not cobbling one together

Yes it is very nice with two wingers with good pace too :) Also not afraid to run and take on people.
As for the defence, it sounds daft but I thought about the EXACT same thing during the game yesterday.
Good performance, but yes against a very weak side.
Bartley looks one to watch the rest of the season. For just a kid its nice to see there are still some physical players out there, he was getting stuck in there, sliding about. Reminds me of how Geary USED to play, had the heart of a lion. Know he's got the knee of an action man.
Yeates put in a belter as did Williamson- have to agree there.
Injury problems is till crippeling us for Forest though, so its going to be interesting to see what Blackwell decides to do for Tuesday.

Im very much certain we had a good winger in Cotts until Blackwell stopped him playing football and on many occasion did'nt play him.
And i'm not just saying it because he's scored a couple at Swansea either, I was very excited when he brought him to the lane and saw some good in him when he was left to play, and many occasion I sat ans screamed for him to be played but he never was.
Another great Blackwell tactical decision he was! Masterminded!!!

I agree, I think it was a mistake to allow Cotts to leave, but he has now and Yeates looks promising too.
I agree Matt, old 'yellaboots' really did show promise and it's a shame he didn't get more games under his belt. I remember when we used to bring him on for the final 30mins sometimes and he could be electric and run rings round people, he wasn't afraid to take on defenders and had a decent size 11 on him. He'll do well at Swansea so it's good for him as player to get games beneath him.

Have another look at how Cotts is doing in a year or so, and see if he's managed to maintain this current run of good form, or if he's done what he did at the Lane - make an explosive start on loan, to encourage us to blow a lot of money on signing him, and then fail to deliver when given the chances.
For every good cameo he may have given coming on as a late sub, there were many more pathetic displays when he started games, and ended up getting taken off and dropped. It was a shame, when he turned up he could be excellent... just didn't happen too often, probably why he was at the Lane and not a PL club!
Whether Yeates turns out to be any more consistent is debatable, but he looks promising so far...
Blackwell can take the blame for a lot of things this season in particular, but the players who didn't perform have to take some too.
CorkerSWFC 14-02-2010, 21:03 Henderson scored again yesterday, makes me laugh how many knockers he has got from the Blades side of things considering he scores nearly every game he plays.
If i was him playing for United i would want to leave, talk about no confidence in a player, without that fella you wouldn't be nowhere near the reaches you are.
Robbie Loving 14-02-2010, 21:07 Henderson.... 64 games - Goals scored 19, which is less than over one in three games. Thats with good scoring record this season - well for him
CorkerSWFC 14-02-2010, 21:20 Darius Henderson.......
12 goals in 21 games including three as sub, 5th in the top goalscorers chart, along with every one of them in the league, if you can moan about that you dont deserve the fella.
a goal every 2 games this season, sorry but even as an owl that is a very decent return for a supposed crap striker.

It's actually 27 games, but yes I get your point.
While he has 12 this season, he got 7 in a full season last term....
CorkerSWFC 14-02-2010, 21:36 Well actually i did know what i meant but it went oblong half way through lol.
BLADE8T1 14-02-2010, 21:38 Are you sure its 27?. He seems to have been out a lot longer than that.just curious
I love the bickering you two have...
Henderson....great in pies and topping cheese on toast.
I think he's worth it, had a decent game on Saturday, and we need a big lad up front for a bit of muscle at set pieces and crosses, look how succesful Hulse was for us. Similar sort of players no? Can hold up the ball, and pose a great threat...granted you have to have a half decent ball lobbed into the box
BLADE8T1 14-02-2010, 21:44 12 in 24 games. 3 as a sub, and 7 sub'd off.cant complain too much.
Are you sure its 27?. He seems to have been out a lot longer than that.just curious
27 this season pal
BLADE8T1 14-02-2010, 21:49 ok,, missed off the cup games ;)
CorkerSWFC 14-02-2010, 21:54 Who cares about the bits and bobs, the fact of the matter is hes a goalscorer, id love him at Hillsborough if truth be known, he would be an ideal foil for Tudgay.
Don't knock someone like him it might come back to haunt you, getting back to the goalscoring charts, a certain Billy Sharp is level with Mr Henderson in the goalscoring ranks, just think another 12 goals to your tally from that little man and you could have been well up there, i think it was a harsh decision letting him go on a season long loan.
In all honesty, Billy hasn't delivered quite as we have expected at the lane..given his goal scoring record at Scunny (the most goals scored in all English leagues) I think we felt we were onto a winner and it was a relief when his first one went in for us, I think it was away at Barnsley. He seems to always deliver on loan, so until he can rather more consistently bang them in for us, then maybe it isnt the worst decision to loan him out?
I've always loved Billy Sharp, even if he wasn't the star player on the pitch all the time, he was a fighter and could run his socks off. For that reason, I'd be more than happy for him to return, but I don't think he would compliment Camara in his style of play
hitman2010 14-02-2010, 22:16 relish has done well this season and as for sharp he would always be in my team and played in the right position like at donny.
Robbie Loving 15-02-2010, 16:55 I think we felt we were onto a winner and it was a relief when his first one went in for us, I think it was away at Barnsley.
Sorry to nit pick, but it was vs Coventry his first goal (if we're talking League games, because he got 2 vs Morecambe), the Barnsley game was his third goal for us (great finish btw), sandwiched in between by the goal vs Norwich - in a run of 3 games and 3 goals.
Robbie you do my tits in pal! Besides the post wasn't based around the venue of his first goal...but thanks for the correction anyway.....git
