Sarah1985 13-02-2010, 17:48 Abit of back story would help for specific advise. But do it, any and every situation you can think of expose your dog to, even if you expect he'll never have to do it again. Not only will they be happy to face that situation again but they'll be open to new experinces as a whole. For example today i took my pup into town on the bus. I doubt she'll ever need to catch a bus again in her life. But we're a one car household so i cant 100% rule it out completely so we socialised her to it just in case. CHEZZFAYE 13-02-2010, 18:05 hi what type are you looking at, because iv got a 4 year old staff that needs some socialising practise. lotti can i bring him to one of ur classes i thought he was agressive but turns out hes not. sorry to hijack ur thread a bit odd job ladyB 13-02-2010, 18:19 I am no where near an expert at dog advice in fact I have only had my molly for nearly 3 weeks. I am new to dogs and puppies and I have got loads of advice of these guys on the forum, however today I took molly moonshine out for her first walk. she was very timid and everything freaked her out but I took a secret weapon CHEESE!!! I was so proud of her. she did everyhing I asked of her. she was totally distracted by the cheese and after 5mins she was much more relaxed and interested in her surroundings. we only stayed out ten mins because she has to start off small but I don't think she would have shifted if it wasn't for the promise of food....and I certainly didn't want to force her into anything. so my tip as a newbie is find their fav treat...not Bakers though it will turn your dog into a nutter!!!:hihi: |
