things are going downhill in the park,
what once was a nice place is now getting a bit depressing,
mainly when the kids are off school (arn't they always)
last week a new bench that "they" put in got burned,in fact theres not much left of it,including the bush behind it !
its belived petrol was used
every time they put something new in its just a matter of time till it gets destroyed or vandalised,
and these things happen around 11.30pm untill the early hours,
often its kids that look (at most) 14 years old,
what are the parents doing ? do they care if there kids are in or out at 3am chopping the bench's with an axe ?
ive been talking to a few locals about getting a "night time walking group" set up ;) to keep an eye on things,
everyone moans about how utterly fed up we all are ,but it seems we just "put up" with it hoping it'l just go away,
sorry to b!tch about stuff, its just that im getting realy fed up with it,

does anyone know who is doing this to our park ?

I live quite close to Ecclesfield park, 10 min walk, 5 mins from colley park, 5 mins from parson cross park, all that green space you think that id be happy with all those parks around me, with having 4 kids... where do i take my kids for a game of footie etc??? hillsbrough park.
Colley park had a load of money spent on it .... waste of time its now ruined... Parson cross had a re-model new play area etc fencing safe floors etc.... its now nacked....
what ever happened to local pride and looking after where you live.... im only 35 and feel ashamed to say i live on the cross... too many kids are left to do as they want and too many parents are willing to let their kids please themselves....

In all fairness, I visted Ecclesfield park just a week or so ago and was surprised how nice it was compared to Longley park which has nothing but a climbing frame.. :(

The kids are always setting fire to the brook between Hartley Brook and Ecclesfield or walking round with guns shooting the birds

I've just started walking a dog in Ecco park (I live near bank of scotland) and was pleasantly surprised how nice it was.

I've been in before but never took much notice of it. Walked through yesterday lunchtime and it was lovely. Kids in the playground, families walking, workers nipping out for lunch. Very pleasant.

Saw the bench though. Why do that?

I agree with what people say about local pride. Where has it gone. I grew up in Shirecliffe and Southey. it pains me to see these two places now.

I play football in Ecclesfield Park - what really ****** me off is the dog walkers who let their dogs foul in the goal mouths - last Saturday I chased one surprised dog owner with his dogs droppings - carefully scooped up with a carrier bag - well I din't want to lay on it during one of my abortive efforts to keep the ball out of the net :)

He was less than impressed when I offered to let him eat it..

Is the bandstand still in the park, if so i bet thats in a right state?

I thought Ecco park was a carpark for Morrisons at Christmas.

the park can be a nice place to visit,i stop and chat to quite a few people when im walking round,
i remember playing on the putting green next to the tennis courts, drinking out of the water fountain, and not being intimidated by yoofs drinking strange "purple" looking liquid :(
the new shelter they put up also didnt take long to be vandalised,
i suppose its just a few scum kids, but by the time they'v grown up a bit their younger siblings just take over,
the new basket ball/5 a side area is used more than i thoaght it would be so thats a good thing,

but try and get a goodnights sleep when you can hear them kicking the doors in on the pavilion all night
