can anyone help

i used to go to pc medix in dinnington,
but now i don't work there, travelling will cost a fortune @ these petrol prices.

i need to get hold of DATAWRITE GREY ( don't use any thing else EVER)

went to the pcmedix on halifax road, last week,
little girl (holiday season didn't go out did she) served me, she said they don't have any DW grey
but there was a large selection, on display
i asked which ones is best seller or ones that don't have many errors

she pointed to an ugly pink ones (ARITA) so i bought a pack for trial

what a waste of £6

i used over 100 DATAWRITE GREY and i only had 1 error (burn speed too high )

and now using arita only 1 good copy whilst 6 in the bin now.

where in sheffieldcan i get hold of some DW grey tomorrow
best price i can get (dinn.) £25 per 100

best price at net is £19.99 + 6.99 P+P

can any one help

ps only looking for datawrite grey ta!!!

I think you'll be lucky (a) to find some specific discs like that locally, and (b) to get a good price! SVP are doing them £19.99 plus £3.99 p&p if you're prepared to wait for the economy postal service...

I've got to say I'm the first to recommend buying decent media, but there's nothing special about these particular ones. Still, up to you.

its because i'm not adventurous, they are ok priced,
and no errors

so why change?

if it ain't broken why fix it :D

Just cos it ain't broke, doesn't mean you can't buy better and cheaper! :) Or more to the point, "why fix it" - because you can't actually buy them!! I usually have the same problem, of leaving it until I only have a couple of discs left before I get round to buying new ones...

i dunno how people seem to get so many errors (coasters) with so many, certain brands ive tried a couple of brands now and havent had 1 dodgy one yet

the ones im using now are mirror platinum (ive had the same ones in a pack of 2 from the pound shop) and they work perfectly

I've been told that the big 24 hour ASDA at Handsworth is good for blank discs.

Got to second Rich's recommendation here..

SVP are definitely worth going with as they send you what you order (unlike ebuyer - re: CD/DVD media), they send it quick and the customer service is very good...

Local shops are going to charge you over the odds, give you rubbish if it's cheap or you might, just might get lucky..

I made a rather large mistake of buying cheap DVD-Rs, and the quality was awful, to had salt to the wound, I copied family videos to them; fortunately, I had the VHS' to copy them to the decent DVD's.

Heyup fella- good choice of DVD-R there!
My particular brand indeed.

Try www.bigpockets.co.uk - they have grey top and yellow top cheap as chips 4x and 8x and I think they might do the faster discs now as well.

Also I think Station X media in Dinnington on the industrial estate behind the Squirrel pub do the discs you want as well.

I used to use a place in Handsworth on their industrial estate for discs as well but I cant for the life of me remember the company name.. they are good though.

Sounds to me like you need a new writer. I can put any disk in mine and it works.

I'm the same though Trever.
I dont use anything but Datawrites now.. they are just that good and at the right price as well.

I have only ever had about 16 discs go funny at the moment and thats from using a lot of the datawrite yellow/grey discs.. they really are that good for everything including film and Data backup.

All I'll add to that is that you can think a cheapo disc is fine - but will it carry on being fine? I had one batch of discs in the earlyish days (fiver a disc to burn at single speed, fun stuff) which all burned perfectly at the time, but three months later only about one in five still worked...

re cheapy disks, I have been buying orange top TUFFDISK 4x and 8x DVD- and +R disks from UKDVDR online, 13 pence a disk, and had NO coasters in over 600 disks in the last 6 months. One I use as a master disk for multiple copies of databases, and its been good for over 100 copies as a master....cheap at 13 pence a disk but very very reliable.
