A veggie friend of mine always rates Jumbo over No. 1 for the range of veggie stuff.

Jumbo definitly. No1 doesn't really cater for veggies unless you want lots of salad, stir fried broccoli and 1 type of meal with bean curd. Jumbo has allsorts like potato dishes etc.

Went there the other night - nine quid if I remember rightly.

And yes it's very much better than No.1 for veggie stuff. Though I always wonder about the so-called 'vegetarian' options at Chinese restaurants, given that some of them are advertised as using oyster sauce (which obviously isn't vegetarian, given that it contains oysters).

It says on the wall that you allowwed to stay for an hour and a half tops.

Exactly how they work out how long you've been there when its rammed is a mystery. Whenever Ive been in we've never been there over an hour so I dunno if / how this gets enforced.

In case anybody's interested, I broached this at my local Chinese takeaway the other day. Apparently they do often/usually use oyster sauce in most of their 'vegetarian' options. At the local they were happy to do me a version without the oyster sauce, though - tasted better to me in fact. Only thing I forgot to ask about was what kind of oil they use for frying - but as they said 'oil' rather than 'fat', I guess that should be OK.
