hi there i have just rehomed a kitten which i am planning to keep indoor due to a very busy main road outside my home. Just took Lexi to vets and felt that they were trying to presume me into having her microchipped - not sure as she will remain indoors

Errr, and!

It cost very little to have her chipped, I can't see any reason why you would not have it done.

It is always possible for a house cat to get out by mistake! Somebody leaves a door slightly ajar for a moment, the cat discovers it can leap through a window .....

Better safe than sorry, if your cat did get out, at least you've better chance of being re-united with it if it's chipped.

I'd get it done! They get where water cant, one of mums house cats got out when she was having her washer taken away, she had crawled up inside it and spent 3 days living at the dump! She is a little so and so for climbing out of the window too. If she can she goes to where she used to live, which is not a good plan as one of her old neighbours kept shooting her which is why she was rehomed! Obviously you wont have that problem but I would get her done you will go out of your mind if she gets out!

I'm trying to keep my two cats as house-cats. But I've had both of them chopped and chipped, just in case. (destruct-o-pup is chipped too)

I've had careless workmen leave main-doors ajar on many occasions resulting in escapes/ escape attempts, and numerous near-misses from both my dogs and my cats.

Being chipped means that, if, God forbid, they do form an escape committee, and get out, they can be returned pretty quickly (fingers X'd)

My Thiri is the same.

If he's not pretending to be a JCB, and attempting the job of excavating to Australia through the bottom of the litter tray, and throwing the litter all over, he's working out new and interesting (devious?) ways to "leg-you-up". (I think he has secret cameras rigged up, and wants to capture the footage of me breaking a limb!)

The little sod got his paw trodden on only a couple of days ago, because he insisted on moving to exactly where I was trying to put my own foot as I was making my way to the stairlift. he yowled a bit, but there was no harm done. I hink the little sod had received more of a "Surprise" when it happened, than any actual injury. (there was no swelling, no deformity, no pain, he'susing limb very successfully to play, so no worry)

I would always go for the microchip. My dogs are all microchipped but they don't go out without me... one of them never even goes offlead but it's still worth having him chipped.

It's so cheap you may aswell, there's every chance your kitten will get out despite being a house cat and then you'll wish you did.
