According to "Sam Knows - www.samknows.com", the exchange for the Stocksbridge area (under the Stocksbridge/Upper Don constituency), is enabled for ADSL, and that the exchange can have more connections, but hasn't LLU services.

Looking at a map on this site, it looks as if the centre of Stocksbridge (S36 1EP), is a fair distance from S36 2RN - where the exchange is based.

By the looks of things, you can only have bog-standard 512Kbps.

Thanks for the advice. I typed my phone number and post code into bt.com and they told me it wasn't available in that area. Strange.

Hi there,

we're at Bolsterstone, so further out than you, and just ordered ours from demon, who use the BT lines...it's not arrived yet (t'was only yesterday), but we've been assured the exchange in Stocksbridge is close enough, so I'm not sure why you can't get it :( TeleWest told us they couldn't do it, but BT were quite helpful... good luck!
