View Full Version : Wanting to take my son abroad
x-GiGgLeS-x 04-02-2010, 08:02 Hi,
I am just wondering what you all think of the idea. I have a 2 year old son that I am wanting to take aboard this year. But I am currently pregnant and due in June. I am therefore hopefully wanting to take both children away maybe begining of October. So it wont be too hot etc.. But my new baby will only be afew months old. Do you think it would be ok to take baby at only afew months old?
missflirtuk 04-02-2010, 08:45 If all his/her injections are up to date I would say go for it but its up to you hun they are your children. If you feel comfortable flying with a toddler and a newborn I would say good on you hun. But make sure they are well covered and the coolest babies by the poolside :hihi:. In both meanings of the word :).
x-GiGgLeS-x 04-02-2010, 08:49 Thanks hun. Im not going to be travelling on my own with my children it will be with my partner so hopefully should not be too bad. Now Ive just got to find out where to take them that would be best but not too far trip for them etc. I am so excited about taking them away as my 2 year old loves planes bless him and I cant wait to see his face.
shazatko 04-02-2010, 08:50 i dont see any problems in it the plane journey maybe the hardest part as ur ears go funny the crew do bring lollypops round for the children but the baby may cry alot as they dont understand it my friends did take something to take the boredem away too on ur flite just make sure u have the rite sun protection and parasol but they will love it i always go october time as it is cooler and not as busy my youngest was just 2 wen we went he was a pain in the airport just bored really but was great on the plane he enjoyed the hol and dint want to come home lol go and enjoy ursens if u have any queries ask ur health worker
Go for it.. :)
I took my son abroad to Turkey when he was 4 months old and he was fine..
Just use the slip, slap, slop routine and keep them in the shade as much as possible and you'll be fine..
One bit of advice I will give you, as the others have said with the ears thing on the plane, with your baby, be sure to have a bottle of something they can suck on during takeoff/landing.. Even if it's just a drink of water..
Go and enjoy your hols.. :)
x-GiGgLeS-x 04-02-2010, 09:15 I am planning on breast feeding baby so I will have plenty for baby to suck on lol. Will they allow me to breast feed on a plane? I never thought of that.
missflirtuk 04-02-2010, 09:23 Giggles :hihi: oh my that made me laugh and I don't think they will stop you... after all baby needs to eat. If they say something just say do you want some I have plenty :hihi:. If not it will keep the men entertained for a while ;).
x-GiGgLeS-x 04-02-2010, 09:27 Im sure everyone will be happy then when they find out they are travelling on the same plane as me and my lovely children lol. I wonder who asks to sit near us first lol.

Yes of course they will.. :)
I'd like to see them try and stop anyone doing so, they'd have a war on their hands.. :hihi:
I too was a little worried at first about taking my son with him being so young and I did think about cancelling my holiday but I'm so glad I didn't.. He used to lay on the sunbed beside the pool, cooing away at everyone that came over to see him, he loved being in the pool splish splashing away in his little blow up seat thingy (forgot what they call them now) :D
We had no problems at all.. :)
missflirtuk 04-02-2010, 09:40 Is it a rubber dinghy :). or those baby floaties thingies :hihi:.
Thats it !! One of those baby floaties thingies.. :hihi: :hihi:
Bethsmummy 04-02-2010, 13:03 Turkey is lovely in the middle of september. much cooler. can have rain but just showers that refresh you and dont last long. A cool wind blows too and makes it much more bearable. Marmaris is a lovely family resort. The Turks love kids too. Im due in june too and my extended family wanted us to go in august but I dont think I could manage it.
My son was 5 months when we went on a plane. I breastfed him during take off and landing as apparently it stops their ears from popping. He was fine on the plane. He's 3 in April and I wouldn't be too keen on taking him on a plane now!
SchMilner 04-02-2010, 20:23 We took our son abroad when he was 11 weeks old and it was the easiest holiday i have ever had ,he was fine on the plane and as i had established a good routine with him he was no trouble at all and he loved all the fuss the locals gave him.
ssazbabe 04-02-2010, 20:42 I took my 6 weeks old baby to america with us and it was ok all you need to think is the locals have children so if anything happens its not as though the hospitals or doctors over there havent seen a baby before xxxxxx
iv taken my 3year old daughter on a plane 3 times, first at 6months-good as gold, 2yrs, little ****e kicking the seats screaming you name it, then when she turned 3 she was great, i kept her occupied for 9hours (yes was tiring) took a little dvd player, books, colours.. turkey is cheap to go to, hope you have a lovely time x
x-GiGgLeS-x 05-02-2010, 07:50 Thank you all for your replies. I cant wait to take them now but Im not going to book anything until my baby is here :) and then we can decide where we want to go etc
x-GiGgLeS-x 05-02-2010, 17:35 Can I just ask does my new baby need their own passport when they are only a couple months old?
gina2007 05-02-2010, 18:32 Yes giggles. He/she will need their own passport, which is why you shouldnt book anything until youve got it, in hand.
We took my niece to Australia at 9months - breeze! She was so good. So dont worry about it, start worrying about your toddler :hihi:
x-GiGgLeS-x 05-02-2010, 19:26 Im thinking (or maybe hoping) my toddler will be fine on the plane due to him liking them so much now. He is also a good toddler anyway so I am not too worried, well not yet.lol. I think aslong as I try and keep him entertained or busy he will be fine :)
missflirtuk 06-02-2010, 12:55 Thats it !! One of those baby floaties thingies.. :hihi: :hihi:I googled it :hihi:.
