View Full Version : Anyone else sick of blackwells after match excuses?
sham.69er 03-02-2010, 17:49 loan signings this injuries that dodgey refs, 22 players used this season...not forgetting we're in the top 6 and we get 25k crowds :rolleyes:

I hate to listen to his after match comments win or lose, he always sees a different game to anybody else !

they are usually recorded the day before the match
I3lade4life 03-02-2010, 18:07 Its not good enough anymore. Im not usually a Blackwell "knocker" but its obvious he out of ideas. He cant attract decent players (unlike Robson for his sins) and he cant keep hold of the decent ones we do/did have. He seems to have a great ability to coach out any ability in anyone with any potential.
Sorry Blackie but your time is up mate!
crookesey 03-02-2010, 18:09 they are usually recorded the day before the match
I don't think that his comment about Spurs taking Walker back was.

It sounds like he gets them out of a old Warnock excuse book:hihi::hihi:
And what i herd today ,sounds like blades fans should be really happy IF they finish in the playoffs how Blackwell put it !
missymoo73 03-02-2010, 20:15 I cant stand the excuses he comes up with. If he came on and said they played crap then yeah I would think more of him but when he comes out with a load of excuses then no I don't respect him anymore - have to say I didnt here what he had to say about last night performance so cant comment about that but apprently it was the worse performance by us in a long time
The only interview I caught of KB from last night was on SSN, and he just said it was a bad day at the office, and we got what we deserved!
Let's be right about it, there are some who were slagging him off after the play-off semi-final win - like most clubs, we've got a hardcore who aren't happy unless they're moaning. If Alex Ferguson took over they'd moan that we got him after his best days had gone... :hihi:
Wish I had that much money to waste, that I could afford to spend it on something I hated to watch, like these people! First it was Bassett, then Heath (shudder!), Warnock, Robson and now KB... all have taken bucketloads of abuse from the usual suspects...

Good post that is m8, makes you laugh sometimes from the Blades side.
Imagine us who have been in the doldrums for god knows how long, no point in moaning just get on with it.
One of the best days ive had this season was away at the Walkers stadium Leicester and we lost 3-0, its what you make of it and how much you love your club in my opinion , something i can safley say i feel about Wednesday never mind how bad we get.

So we had a bad run earlier this season, some of the usual boos, but KB survived, and led us back to the top six, despite facing a massive repair job...
Wasn't it your lot who hounded out the man who was apparently god earlier last year, just for a similar set of results? Wait until next season, when you're still playing ugly Bassett/Wilko tactics and not winning, i'm sure you'll all be as happy with the manager then...
Its about time
You're right - sometimes he should just take it on the chin, unless it's a really blatant thing from the ref.

Us older Blades know all about being in the doldrums.
CorkerSWFC 03-02-2010, 21:20 Im not sure how old some of you think i am on here, but im not as young as you think lol.

Sorry to do this to ya Corkers, but after your thread about United website getting it wrong surely the above is incorrect. When have Owls won Gold? I thought the League Cup (including medals) was made from Silver :hihi::hihi::hihi:

Yup 7 managers at their place since 2000 and only 2 (at the moment) in 3 figure for games in charge
and there's us always hounding managers out 3 since 2000
There is one poster on here who used to have the sig "Brian laws Sheffield's No.1" now with the sig "Alan Irvine Sheffield's No.1"
FFS its only been 5 games You can see him being put up for pope if they get into double figures
Wow, are people actually serious and want Blackwell out? We're up to top 6 aren't we? I think blades fans should maybe stop living in the past and sobbing about the fact we haven't bounced back from relegation, we havn't exactly been catostrophic. For me, now, its all about being the 12th man, giving the club as much support as possible. I have every faith in the blades, and I'm sure we will see the late show, of a string of wins around April time which could really boost us high into the play offs.
Anyway, thats what I think, and it had nothing to do the OP, sorry :)

corker mi old china i'm sure if you look back on my posts you'll not find one about losing games its the way we lose them and the boring tedious way we win them,we have the players to play football but a manager that drums it into them to play a totally different way, a way that sends the crowd to sleep.

I know what you mean Sham m8, when we had Sturrock his tactics were so hoofish it made me laugh at times.
But it got us promoted.

some times hoof ball can be entertaining if you have the right players to play it,one of my best ever games was against the geordies under bassett..they were top flight we were old 3rd division and we battered em for 90 minutes and put 3 past em..excellent stuff.lets just say blackwell did take us up can you imagine the embarrasment his dire negative tatics would be on show against prem teams

I remember that game also went to the one at newcastle, I was in the newcastle end and some Blades fans who knew me saw me at half time.
The next thing all the Blades fans were singing he's a Blade he's a Blade and pointing to me. I just put my arms up to them and they all cheered, the rest of the game I got more attention than the match from the geordies.
We don't have a bad record against the geordies lately, We beat them away when we were in the premier, I also went to that game all the geordies booed newcastle after the game.
Earwiggo 04-02-2010, 11:17 I thought his comments on the WBA game were very accurate, and to be honest, even I felt for him after the Watford game.
Let's be honest, things have been going against him a lately, and losing someone of Walkers' quality 10 mins before the window shuts is one hell of a kick in the wotsits.
He's no master tactician, but he is having a load of bad luck.
I should rub it in really, cause that's what a lot of Blades did to us when we had a lot of injuries and bad luck, but I can't bring myself to do it, I'm far too nice.

Your right about the interview after wba, he had no excuses and said it was crap.
You are also correct about things not going for him, a decent team has been sold from under his feet since he came just like what happened at leeds.
Again your right about him not being a master tactition.
Your a nice man, hmm. Of course you are.
Four out of four, now there's a turn up for the books.
Good post old chap.
Earwiggo 04-02-2010, 11:36 I'm off for a lie down!
I know what you mean Sham m8, when we had Sturrock his tactics were so hoofish it made me laugh at times.
But it got us promoted.
My old old season ticket was right next to the dugout back then. Sturrock always told our fullbacks to hoof it into the corners so the wingers could put crosses into the box. It was predictable, but hey it worked out alright.
Its annoyed when he is complaigning that he has used 22 players this year when it was him that decided to have a clear-out in the summer and it is him that decides the transfers who come into the club?
Ruben Ried for example- he signed on load- looked handy then blackwell decided he was surplus to requirements and now we have shipped him off to a league 2 club? Surely someone should be getting a rollocking there? How much money did we spend on his wages? and surely the scout should be held responsible?
Its beginning to really annoy me cos this is now blackwells team so he has got to stop blaming everything else and hold his hand up at some point and say that the tactics/selection was wrong.

he's the most irritating bloke ive ever come across.
Earwiggo 06-02-2010, 12:01 Calm down Sham, you must be having a bitta sympathy with Blackclock's bad luck this season, I know I am. I'm glad United aren't impressing and flying high towards the Prem, but I do feel for Blackclock at times.
I shunt feel like this, but I do.

Earwiggo 06-02-2010, 13:23 Back on topic.
Unless my radio is different to anyone elses, then no, I'm not sick of Blackwells excuses, it all makes for good entertainment.
sham.69er 06-02-2010, 16:42 what was sackwells excuse's to today's fiasco then? ive only just got in and missed the shortend phone in.i think i might have said that blades v boro was the most boring game ive ever been too well i'd like to change my mind its now blades v derby..as blades fans will know any goal mouth incidents or near misses are shown on the big screen well todays first breath taking moment was shown at 16.35pm the rest of the time the screen was showing adverts.
it was absoulute garbage:|:|:|
Cannot understand todays team selection at all. Cressy, Evans and Hendo upfront, whats that all about. I think Derby were really unlucky today to only be going home with a point
Agent Gypo 06-02-2010, 16:51 Abysmal performance in the first half, Derby should have won that game by a clear margin. We looked much improved when Ward came, but we were very lucky to take a point.
sham.69er 06-02-2010, 16:53 the new bloke on radio sheff (not sure of his name but he's obviously been breifed by the usual lot) says we were a much improved side in the 2nd half.....EH!!!!! which game was he at then :|

we improved in the last 10 minutes granted, but other than that we looked more like the away side
Back on topic.

Almost as entertaining as Strafford's latest excuses for failing to deliver :)
Poor game today, Odd team selection, nicked a point we didn't deserve. Williamson probably saved Blackwell from a chorus of boos at the end, but it can't carry on like that. Why leave your best player (Ward) on the bench, or play Monty at right back when you've got Geary or Fortune available?
Cresswell looked very poor today... not many came out of that with credit - possibly Nosworthy for carrying the defence, Quinn for being the least rubbish midfielder (and there was a lot of competition for the worst midfielder today), and none of the starting forwards can be too happy tonight.
Welbeck and Preston await on Tuesday night... looks like a Home Banker!
The only interesting thing today was marvelling at just how small a head Nicky Hunt has, on such a tall and skinny body, with no apparent neck...like a giant Gladstone Small :)
Reading score to go 1 up at Donny... :)
CorkerSWFC 06-02-2010, 17:55 Tried to look on the highlights for the Savage goal but cant get a clear look on Savages face, anyone notice if he had a black eye?
bobatton 07-02-2010, 19:55 why have you got a link to the alicia keys song? , anyway my main reply to this lot is simple, why do all blades just moan, ive been a blade since birth and i know its not perfect at the moment but booing and moaning is pointless its not like the manager is going to listen to idiots on radio shows and whats point blowing money on the match to go and be miserable, i cant be doing with being at the lane any more because i hate all our fans, id sooner be happy at the weekend so might start watching reserves or sheff club or even hallam f.c , cant remember last time atmosphere made hairs stand up like they used to when we had less money, deane and agana era or was i just younger and happier then?

INot all blades moan - and as I've said in an earlier post its not moaning its expressing an opinion.
People at the lane (I am not included in this btw) will boo as a way of expressing how they feel. How else do you expect them to react and it just lets the players and the managers know that its not good enough.
I dont think it will get any better until Blackwell goes. People have lost confidence in him .
bobatton 07-02-2010, 20:15 we will always have an average manager its the type of club we are so we will moan at every manager at some point, we might aswell back blackwell its not like a mourinho type is going to take over

Its not gunna happen.
I was a huge fan of Blackwell up until recently. I have to be honest and say I don't go to every home game due to family commitments but just recently I have seen some dire performances from my team that I have supported from - well being born really (Dad huge fan etc etc - its in the blood) but then to hear him on the radio and make excuse after excuse is beyond me tbh.
If he came out ad said we played shocking and the players dont deserve to get paid this week after that performance then I would respect him far more. So from that point of you he's lost me afraid. He dont want to admit it coz he doesn't know what to do with them anymore.

Only positive I took from yesterday (apart from the point) was that we played at least as badly as we did at Barnsley, but somehow nicked an undeserved point late in the game - that draw at Barnsley sparked that good run of results we had until last week, so maybe that point from a dire game yesterday may at least turn the results round again... more hope than expectation though.
Have to admit though that had we not equalised and papered over the cracks for another week, it might have forced McCabe's hands and seriously consider removing KB. As it is, we might just stumble along a bit longer until the axe falls.

I didnt manage yesterdays game as I am in middle of moving house but i listened to it on the old blade player and it sounded pretty poor tbh. Saw the clip on football league but it didnt show you much. I just can't see him getting rid tbh not when we are in 7th place in the table.
leviathan13 08-02-2010, 12:07 I think Blackwell's problem is that he's good at stopping the rot, for teams who are struggling and have major defensive problems etc. but after that he's no good at progressing a team.
I'm not one for calling for a manager's head after a few dodgy results etc. but I do think he's taken us as far as he can. He put a bit of passion and muscle back in to the team after Robson and steadied the ship, but as far as taking us on from that he's struggling.
Might be worth keeping him on in some role as defensive coach etc. but certainly think we need a more attacking minded manager to take us further. I mean, you look at where he plays certain players and you wonder why.
Ward needs to be up front instead of on the wing, for starters.
sham.69er 08-02-2010, 12:28 i know its not perfect at the moment but booing and moaning is pointless ?
i never boo at matches and i do my moaning on here....getting on peoples backs during a match does no one any good.
Blade1983 08-02-2010, 14:24 I've had anough of his cr@p. "injuries, O what but luck, we have injuries", it has just been the January Transfer window you...****..!
We've had bad injuries all season - small squad - team full of loan signings....... January transfer window comes along and what do we do - nothing! more loan signings.
One of three things is happening at the Lane:
1) we have money to spend and Blackwell won't spend it / can't attract anyone.
2) we have money to spend but McCabe won't let Blackwell waste it
3) we have no money.
Either way I wish the club would just come clean with the fans. It just seems like we're being strung along at the minute.
I never question McCabe - he's a cleverer man than me who's made multi millions, so he's no idiot - but at the minute the club seem to want us to believe that all is ok when maybe it isn't. I'd rather them just tell us. I don't expect us to go spending £2-3m on players left right and centre, but come then end of the season we must have no more than 15 players contracted to us.
And I know this rant is playing into the hands of the Wednesday fans, but I (like many) am becoming sick of this now!
Note: probably not the easiest rant to read - I kind of typed while things were coming into my head!
eastbank 08-02-2010, 14:35 i never boo at matches and i do my moaning on here....getting on peoples backs during a match does no one any good.
agree there mate....no good booing....if i feel like a moan...i nip out and indulge in a pie....since irvine took over i'm down to four a game.....mind you i prefer it when we are total ****e.....can go through a dozen..:hihi::hihi:
matt1889 08-02-2010, 14:54 i never boo at matches and i do my moaning on here....getting on peoples backs during a match does no one any good.
I agree with this also mate, i'm not into griefing and attacking the players or the manager during a game, it's not going to help anything.
Like you I prefer to either vent it in the boozer with the lads whilst throwing down a few sherbets, or if I'm really mad some of it might overpour into here afterwards.

On the contrary 1983, your 'rant' is just saying it like it is.
It's the Blades who are denying it who will get the stick from some Owls.
Most Blades and most Owls can see the position at the Lane, and it's good to see some Blades like yourself accept the situation, and post a message like this.
Respect to yer mate, a post from the heart.
