What spec is your PC now?
What operating system is it running?
What sort of software are you running on it?

you can speed up a computer a lot just by getting rid of crap thats never used and running cleaner/reg cleaner/optimisers etc etc, but once you have done all that and you want more speed then one of the cheapest ways to get it is more RAM, you can never have enough RAM! :D

what are u exactly wanting to do? why do u need it to go faster?

Software method:

Uninstall any unused software.
Disable any chat/file sharing programs running at boot (use autoruns (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx))
Clean all temp files (use ATF-Cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=25))
Use the free Glary Utilities (http://www.glaryutilities.com/gu.html) to backup then clean your registry.


Hardware method (other than more RAM):

Reinstall OS (after a full reformat) then only install necessary programs.
or
Buy a new PC.
