From next Sunday [21st Aug] tram fares jump up to :

Monthly = £ 35.00
Weekly = £ 9.00
Daily = £ 2.70

Yikes !

Can't remember what the switchas and other fare rises were but there are signs on the tram stops [yellow A4 notices]
:(

Guess the fare rises are to pay for all those nice flowers etc at their depot whilst other tram stops and the help points fall apart :confused:

And they wonder why people prefer taking their car to work..

I haven't set foot on a tram/bus in months, and I don't intend to anytime soon..

Yet I travel on the tram nearly every day. and haven't ever had a single problem.

And perhaps you should try the search function? :p

its more likely due to oil price rises surely? Theres nothing they can do about that unfortunatley. I bet they dont reduce them if the price of oil falls...

It's just over £1 day, much cheaper than the bus or running a car.

The price rises are down to massive increase in operating costs, mainly in the areas of insurance and power supply.

.......... and the desire to maintain a profit!!

it's about time the users contributed to the actual cost of the system, it's not making a profit yet.

The tram runs on Electricity you....:loopy:

What's everybody moaning about......it's still a bargain £9.00 for a weeks travel as many times as you want.Cheaper than taking the car,paying for petrol and parking.

Which world you are living in? Coal is too expensive to mine because there isn't enough of it, so it costs so much to extract it. That's why all the mines closed in the first place.

why do the government keep bleating on about clean coal stations then? Someone is burning coal still and they wouldnt do it if they didnt make money. Maybe it is only british mines that are too expensive?

Which is exactly what I was referring to, because "SheffBloke" said he was sure all the British mines would reopen!

Pfff... Forget paying, just sit down reading a copy of the Metro. They'll never ask for your fare... they never do.

With a remark like that - you'll have Maggie turning in her grave! Oh, just remembered something, o.k., with a remark like that - you'll send her to an early grave. That's better. :hihi:

What a charitable thought for a councillor.

Wait until Labour starts building some new nuclear power stations... then you might have a bit of explaining to do.
