I was just wanting to know about anybody who has setup their own business and got really far in it and makde loads of money, or even if you have managed to buy something you have always wanted because you created your own little business and worked hard. Me and my partner are in the middle of setting up our own company so just wanting some encouragment.
Thankyou

i'd do it clairerob; you've got three choices: work for yourself, work for someone else or do nothing!

70% of businesses fail after two years, but that also means 30% succeed. it also might mean to set up two or three over a few years to increase your chances.

anyway, if you don't like what you're doing now (you don't say if you do) then what have you got to lose?

It's a tough , brave decision starting your own business. Me & my husband sold our house in Ross-on Wye 16 years ago to return home to Sheffield and set up our recruitment business.

We lived in rented accomodation for a while, went without a car through a particularly bad period (when we had been going for about 2 years), but this year has seen our best year of trading and we are still going strong.

We've bought a house in the area we wanted, the new car is my husbands pride & joy and we celebrated our 25th wedding aniversary this year with a trip to South America.

We now have a good standard of living and work with some of the top companies in the area.

Being self employed is quite a roller coaster with never a dull moment.

Good Luck!

PM me if you need any help/advice/encouragement or staff!

clairerob if the airport parking is the business you are talking about then you have made a good start already  the only little bit of a critisism (and it's just my opinion) and that is get rid of that irritating distraction that flys across the screen on the opening page of your web site.

I have saved the web site to my favourites so the next question is......discount for the forum members :P

Hi Claire, just looked at your website for the annoying little flying thing, just out of curiosity, and it says under construction and to find someone else - bad move, why didn't you put a phone number or e-mail address? First rule of business - always go the extra mile, don't send your potential customers to someone else - 9 times out of 10 they will stay with them! Good Luck for the future - hope you will be offering chauffeur parking at the airport, we used the manchester airport one this year - it works really well and its worth the extra couple of quid!:D :D :D

Hi Claire,

Following on from the previous post. Even though the site is under construction you should have at least 1 paragraph of plain text with regular references to Robin Hood Airport.

The reason for this is that the search engines such as Google and MSN will still look for site to index. If they find a page of text relevant to robin hood airport your site will rank higher up the search engine pages when it gets back up and running.

Think how many people are using robin hood, but dont know where it is. What do they do? Type it in google... If your website appears also you will get ALOT of extra business.

Just a paragraph with robin hood airport in bold. Also a few bullet points which contain bold lettering is also useful.
