View Full Version : Accident outside sportmans pub on Stannington road (14/8/05)
Hi does anyone know anything about this accident?
Seem a person was hit by a car on the bottom of Stannington rd outside sportsman pub, around 4.45pm.
An ambulance arrived, and they performed help in back of it.
But we saw it drive down Stannington road at around 6pm with no lights and was not in a rush. So not good!
2 young boys were in the back of a police car been questioned.
Traffic was diverted up wood lane from 6pm.
Not 100% certain but IMO it was probably the aftermath of yet another drunken fight in the car park or inside the pub itself.. :loopy:
That's the trouble with the Sportsman, it was OKish when Phil and Carol had it, aside from the odd bit of trouble but since they left it's changed hands at least another twice and still the same troubles... It's since they moved all the chavs off Wybourn onto the Liberty estate... And now they all go in the Sportsman cos the Deerstalker and the Turnbull have both shut down...
Honestly the state of pubs in Stannington is crap, the Sportsman and the Hare and Hounds are full of chavs and council estate scum, Mini's is OK I suppose but I've only ever been in about twice.. And the Top House (Crown and Glove) has gone down the swannee since Mick and Cath left cos the new Landlord's a muppet..
I think it was just someone crossing the road.... innocent, but i believed the person died... but don't quote me on it.
I'm sure the persons alright Rich, I'm sure he'll thank you for your concern :loopy:
Someone may be seriously injured and all you can harp on about is Chavs...

pattricia 14-08-2005, 20:22 Council Estate Scum ? I live at Stannington now ,but was brought up on Adkins rd,Shirecliffe then onto Piper Close,Longley.I am now detached at Stannington, but we had happy years there, and lovely neighbours. Maybe things have changed,I dont know.
shouldn't we be thinking about the poor person who's fate is unknown?
chavs seperate topic!
anyone have any news on the incident?
craig3636 14-08-2005, 22:52 i heard it was a motocyclist that hit a volvo, the areas marked out with the orange paint, also lots of blood there.
naughtyelf 15-08-2005, 09:00 i think rich is spot on with his comments about the area and the pubs.
as for the accident victim just because the ambulance lights and siren were not on dose not always mean the person had died surprized the police might have caught who did it did not know they knew how to get to stannington or any other chav filled areas (gos on to rant for hours about state of sheffield nd police lack of action)....

Both those pubs are open again.....and both are still DIRE!!!!
Magneteer 15-08-2005, 12:15 I notice that the Sportsman has applied to extend its opening hours to 1.00 am. That'll be great for the locals when all the kegged up chavs start kicking off at that time.
NEKRO138 15-08-2005, 12:20 I know what happened. At 5:15, a 20-year-old pedal cyclist was knocked off his bike by a Volvo 440.
The cyclist was taken to Northern General hospital with life threatening injuries to his spine, shoulder and head.
He is now in a critical condition.
The driver of the car was a 19-year-old man from Stannington, the cyclist was from Broomhill.

Not sure how the new law works, do the locals get a say in this, does theopub have to post a notice outside that it is applying for late licence, etc, with time for locals to object in writing?
My partner's spine operation in NGH has been cancelled for this wk, as his consultant has an emergancy operation to perform.
I wonder if it is the cyclist.
